Journal ArticleDOI
Tree growth influenced by warming winter climate and summer moisture availability in northern temperate forests.
Jill E. Harvey,Jill E. Harvey,Marko Smiljanic,Tobias Scharnweber,Allan Buras,Anna Cedro,Roberto Cruz-García,Igor Drobyshev,Igor Drobyshev,Karolina Janecka,Āris Jansons,Ryszard J. Kaczka,Marcin Klisz,Alar Läänelaid,Roberts Matisons,Lena Muffler,Lena Muffler,Kristina Sohar,Barbara Spyt,Juliane Stolz,Ernst van der Maaten,Marieke van der Maaten-Theunissen,Adomas Vitas,Robert Weigel,Robert Weigel,Jürgen Kreyling,Martin Wilmking +26 more
TL;DR: The findings presented here highlight the temporally unstable and non-uniform responses of tree growth to climate variability, and that there are geographical coherent regions where these changes are similar.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure and Function of Intra–Annual Density Fluctuations: Mind the Gaps
Giovanna Battipaglia,Giovanna Battipaglia,Giovanna Battipaglia,Filipe Campelo,Joana Vieira,Michael Grabner,Veronica De Micco,Cristina Nabais,Paolo Cherubini,Marco Carrer,Achim Bräuning,Katarina Čufar,Alfredo Di Filippo,Ignacio García-González,Marcin Koprowski,Marcin Klisz,Alexander V. Kirdyanov,Nikolay Zafirov,Martin de Luis +18 more
TL;DR: The advantages offered by network analyses of data and the importance of high-resolution measurements to gain insight into IADFs formation processes and their relations with climatic conditions, including extreme weather events are underscored.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ecology, growth and management of black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.), a non-native species integrated into European forests
Valeriu-Norocel Nicolescu,Károly Rédei,William L. Mason,Torsten Vor,Elizabeth Pöetzelsberger,Jean Charles Bastien,Robert Brus,Tibor Benčať,Martina Đodan,Branislav Cvjetković,Siniša Andrašev,Nicola La Porta,Vasyl Lavnyy,Dejan Mandžukovski,Krasimira Petkova,Dušan Roženbergar,Radosław Wąsik,Godefridus M. J. Mohren,Maria Cristina Monteverdi,Brigitte Musch,Marcin Klisz,Sanja Perić,Ljiljana Keca,Deborah Bartlett,Cornelia Hernea,Michal Pástor +25 more
TL;DR: The species is regarded as invasive in several European countries and its range here is expected to expand under predicted climate changes.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of climate on wood density: What provenance trials tell us?
Cristina Nabais,Jon Kehlet Hansen,Rakefet David-Schwartz,Marcin Klisz,Rosana López,Rosana López,Philippe Rozenberg +6 more
TL;DR: Provenance trials are a useful tool to disentangle genetic variation from plasticity of adaptive traits among populations within populations within the same species and it is hypothesize that its variation in provenance trials should be shaped by the provenance climatic variables.
Journal ArticleDOI
Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) range contraction and expansion in Europe under changing climate.
Radosław Puchałka,Marcin K. Dyderski,Michaela Vítková,Jiří Sádlo,Marcin Klisz,M. V. Netsvetov,Yulia Prokopuk,Roberts Matisons,Marcin Mionskowski,Tomasz Wojda,Marcin Koprowski,Andrzej M. Jagodziński +11 more
TL;DR: It was shown that the majority of the range changes expected in 2070 will occur as early as 2050 and the expected effects of climate change will likely be observed twenty years earlier than previously forecasted, highlighting the urgent need for acceleration of policies aimed at climate change mitigation in Europe.
