Exploring the molecular chemistry and excitation in obscured luminous infrared galaxies - An ALMA mm-wave spectral scan of NGC 4418
Francesco Costagliola,Francesco Costagliola,Kazushi Sakamoto,Sebastien Muller,Sergio Martín,Susanne Aalto,Nanase Harada,P. van der Werf,Serena Viti,Santiago García-Burillo,Marco Spaans +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a multi-band spectral scan of a luminous infrared galaxy (LIRG) NGC 4418 was obtained and compared to other Galactic and extragalactic sources by means of a principal component analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Benz,Anna Murphy,Neil Trappe,Antti V. Räisänen +59 more
TL;DR: In this article, a Russian-led 12 m diameter sub-millimeter and far-infrared space observatory is proposed for launch around 2017, which will enable unique science and allow at least one order of magnitude improvement with respect to the Herschel Space Observatory.
Journal ArticleDOI
Photon-dominated regions around cool stars: The effects of the color temperature of the radiation field
TL;DR: In this article, the photoelectric efficiency of heating by large molecules such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and very small grains for radiation fields characterized by different effective temperatures was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnostics of the molecular component of photon-dominated regions with mechanical heating
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of dissipated turbulence on the thermal and chemical properties of PDRs is explored, and the effects of mechanical heating on the temperature profiles, column densities of CO and H2O and column density ratios of HNC, HCN and HCO+ are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gas lines from the 5-Myr old optically thin disk around HD141569A. Herschel observations and modeling
Wing-Fai Thi,Christophe Pinte,Eric Pantin,Jean-Charles Augereau,Gwendolyn Meeus,Francois Menard,C. Martin-Zaidi,Peter Woitke,Pablo Riviere-Marichalar,Inga Kamp,Andres Carmona,Göran Sandell,Carlos Eiroa,Williams Dent,Benjamin Montesinos,Giambattista Aresu,Rowin Meijerink,Marco Spaans,Glenn J. White,David R. Ardila,J. Lebreton,I. Mendigutia,Sean D. Brittain +22 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the fine-structure lines of OI at 63 and 145 micron and the CII line at 157 micron with the PACS instrument onboard the Herschel Space Telescope as part of the open-time large programme GASPS were observed.
