Molecular line emission in NGC 1068 imaged with ALMA - II. The chemistry of the dense molecular gas
S. Viti,Santiago García-Burillo,Asunción Fuente,L. K. Hunt,A. Usero,Carsten Henkel,Carsten Henkel,Andreas Eckart,Andreas Eckart,Sergio Martín,Marco Spaans,Sebastien Muller,Francoise Combes,M. Krips,Eva Schinnerer,Viviana Casasola,Francesco Costagliola,Isabel Márquez,P. Planesas,P. van der Werf,Susanne Aalto,Andrew J. Baker,Frédéric Boone,Linda J. Tacconi +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, a detailed analysis of Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) Bands 7 and 9 data of CO, HCO+, HCN, and CS, augmented with Plateau de Bure Interferometer (PdBI) data of the ~200 pc circumnuclear disc (CND) and the ~1.3 kpc starburst ring (SB ring) of NGC 1068, a nearby (D = 14 Mpc) Seyfert 2 barred galaxy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lyα Radiation from Collapsing Protogalaxies. II. Observational Evidence for Gas Infall
TL;DR: In this paper, the spectra and surface brightness distributions for the Lyα radiation expected from protogalaxies that are caught in the early stages of their assembly were modeled and the effect of subsequent resonant scattering in the IGM.
Journal ArticleDOI
Overluminous HNC line emission in Arp 220, NGC 4418 and Mrk 231. Global IR pumping or XDRs?
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed that the main cause for the luminous HNC line emission is the extreme radiative and kinematical environment in starburst and active nuclei.

Small-scale dynamo action during the formation of the first stars and galaxies
Dominik R. G. Schleicher,Robi Banerjee,Sharanya Sur,Tigran G. Arshakian,Ralf S. Klessen,Rainer Beck,Marco Spaans +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explore the amplification of magnetic seed fields during the formation of the first stars and galaxies, and find that the magnetic field may be substantially amplified before the creation of a disk.
Journal ArticleDOI
P Cygni Profiles of Molecular Lines Toward Arp 220 Nuclei
Kazushi Sakamoto,Susanne Aalto,David J. Wilner,John H. Black,John Conway,Francesco Costagliola,Alison B. Peck,Marco Spaans,Junzhi Wang,Martina C. Wiedner +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported a 100 pc (0farcs3) resolution observation of (sub)millimeter HCO+ and CO lines in the ultraluminous infrared galaxy Arp 220 and suggested that these P Cygni profiles are due to the outward motion of molecular gas from the nuclei.
