Paper introduces a new spectral expansion of ternary-input binary-output functions that generalizes the binary Kronecker-Reed-Muller forms. Two binary Davio Expansions are generalized to 27 Ternary-Input Davio Expansions. New KRM spectrum has 28n expansions for $n$ ternary variables. By creating an oracle for this problem we generalize the quantum Grover-based algorithms presented for the binary FPRM and KRM forms in the past. Because the method finds solutions also to incompletely specified functions, it can be used to both quantum circuit design and Machine Learning classifier design.

Quantum Algorithm for Machine Learning and Circuit Design Based on Optimization of Ternary - Input, Binary-Output Kronecker-Reed-Muller Forms

As the field of robotics matures robots will need some method of displaying and modeling emotions. One way of doing this is to use a human-like face on which the robot can make facial expressions corresponding to its emotional state. Yet the connection between a robot’s emotional state and its physical facial expression is not an obvious one: while a smile can gradually increase or decrease in size, there is no principled method of using boolean logic to map changes in facial expressions to changes in emotional states. We give a philosophical analysis of the problem and show that it is rooted in the vagueness of robot emotions. We then outline several methods that have been used in the philosophical literature to model vagueness and propose an experiment that uses our humanoid robot head to determine which philosophical theory is best suited to the task.

This paper presents a cellular-automatic model of a reversible regular structure called Davio lattice. Regular circuits are investigated because of the requirement of future (nano-) technologies where long wires should be avoided. Reversibility is a valuable feature because it means much lower energy dissipation. A circuit is reversible if the number of its inputs equals the number of its outputs and there is a one-to-one mapping between spaces of input vectors and output vectors. It is believed that one day regular reversible structures will be implemented as nano-scale 3-dimensional chips. This paper introduces the notion of the Toffoli gate and its cellular-automatic implementation, as well as an example of the Davio lattice built exclusively of Toffoli gates and run on a special cellular automaton called CAM-Brain Machine (CBM).

Cellular Automata Realization of Regular Logic

This paper presents a concept and an implementation of a current-mode integrator based on the Miller effect. The circuit has a highly linear, no feedback, current path, implemented using a Gilbert amplifier cell, and a voltage feedback path with capacitors, realizing integration. A bipolar transistor array process with devices with an f/sub T/ of 8 GHz has been used for the circuit simulation. Phase response of -90/spl plusmn/0.5/spl deg/ has been obtained in the frequency range of 1 MHz to 670 MHz (the low-frequency pole can be tuned electronically down to about 3 Hz). Excess phase can be compensated electronically to obtain exactly -90/spl deg/ for any frequency in the entire useful range. The gain of the circuit can be tuned electronically over at least 40 dB. THD for 1 MHz is better than 0.052% for an output current of 2.8 mA/sub pp/, which represents 93% of the output tail current. DC gain of the circuit can be turned up to over 90 dB.

Highly linear VHF current-mode Miller integrator with 90 dB DC gain

A digital device is called reversible if it realizes a reversible mapping, i.e., the one for which there exist a unique inverse. The field of reversible computing is devoted to studying all aspects of using and designing reversible devices. During last 15 years this field has been developing very intensively due to its applications in quantum computing, nanotechnology and reducing power consumption of digital devices. We present an analysis of the Reversible Finite State Machines (RFSM) with respect to three well known sequences used in the testability analysis of the classical Finite State Machines (FSM). The homing, distinguishing and synchronizing sequences are applied to two types of reversible FSMs: the converging FSM (CRFSM) and the nonconverging FSM (NCRFSM) and the effect is studied and analyzed. We show that while only certain classical FSMs possess all three sequences, CRFSMs and NCRFSMs have properties allowing to directly determine what type of sequences these machines possess.
