Journal ArticleDOI

Reconstructing the stellar mass distributions of galaxies using S4G IRAC 3.6 and 4.5 μm images. II. The conversion from light to mass.

TL;DR: In this article, a new approach for estimating the 3.6 μm stellar mass-to-light (M/L) ratio Υ_3.6 was presented, which avoids several of the largest sources of uncertainty in existing techniques using population synthesis models.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Spitzer Survey of Stellar Structure in Galaxies (S4G): Precise Stellar Mass Distributions from Automated Dust Correction at 3.6 μm

TL;DR: In this article, Meidt et al. used Independent Component Analysis (ICA) to reveal the old stellar flux at 3.6μm and obtain stellar mass maps for more than 1600 galaxies available from the Spitzer Survey of Stellar Structure in Galaxies (S^4G).
