Molecular Profiling of Salivary Gland Intraductal Carcinoma Revealed a Subset of Tumors Harboring NCOA4-RET and Novel TRIM27-RET Fusions: A Report of 17 cases
Alena Skálová,Tomas Vanecek,Emmanuelle Uro-Coste,Emmanuelle Uro-Coste,Justin A. Bishop,Ilan Weinreb,Lester D.R. Thompson,Stefano De Sanctis,Marco Schiavo-Lena,Jan Laco,Cécile Badoual,Thalita Santana Conceição,Nikola Ptáková,Martina Baněčková,Marketa Miesbauerova,Michal Michal +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the FusionPlex Solid Tumor kit (ArcherDX) to perform next-generation sequencing on 17 cases of Intraductal Carcinoma (IC) and found that 47% of the cases harbored a fusion involving RET.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular Profiling of Hyalinizing Clear Cell Carcinomas Revealed a Subset of Tumors Harboring a Novel EWSR1-CREM Fusion: Report of 3 Cases.
Erin Chapman,Alena Skálová,Nikola Ptáková,Petr Martinek,Angela Goytain,Tracy Tucker,Wei Xiong,Mary Leader,Brian Kudlow,Josh Haimes,Malcolm Hayes,Peter Bohus,Marketa Miesbauerova,Cheng-Han Lee,Tony Ng,Tony Ng +15 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the ability to discover novel gene variants with next-generation sequencing–based assays has clinical utility in the pathologic classification of fusion gene-associated tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI
NCOA4-RET and TRIM27-RET are Characteristic Gene Fusions in Salivary Intraductal Carcinoma, Including Invasive and Metastatic Tumors: Is “Intraductal” Correct?
Alena Skálová,Nikola Ptáková,Thalita Santana,Abbas Agaimy,Stephan Ihrler,Emmanuelle Uro-Coste,Emmanuelle Uro-Coste,Lester D.R. Thompson,Justin A. Bishop,Martina Baněčková,Niels J. Rupp,Patrizia Morbini,Stefano De Sanctis,Marco Schiavo-Lena,Tomas Vanecek,Michal Michal,Ilmo Leivo +16 more
TL;DR: The distinct molecular findings in IC and SDC support that the tumors are separate malignant salivary tumor entities, and the presence of tumor-type–specific NCOA4-RET or TRIM27-RET translocations in a subset of widely invasive carcinomas with intercalated duct-like immunoprofiles suggests that a recharacterization of IC including its redesignation as “intercalatedduct carcinoma, invasive or noninvasive” may be appropriate.
Journal ArticleDOI
ALK rearranged renal cell carcinoma (ALK-RCC): a multi-institutional study of twelve cases with identification of novel partner genes CLIP1, KIF5B and KIAA1217.
Naoto Kuroda,Kiril Trpkov,Yuan Gao,Maria S. Tretiakova,Yajuan J. Liu,Monika Ulamec,Kengo Takeuchi,Abbas Agaimy,Christopher G. Przybycin,Cristina Magi-Galluzzi,Soichiro Fushimi,Fumiyoshi Kojima,Malthide Sibony,Jen-Fan Hang,Chin-Chen Pan,Asli Yilmaz,Farshid Siadat,Emiko Sugawara,Pierre-Alexandre Just,Nikola Ptáková,Ondrej Hes +20 more
TL;DR: This study describes 12 ALK-RCCs from 8 institutions, with detailed clinical, pathological, immunohistochemical (IHC), fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and next generation sequencing (NGS) analyses, and advocates a routine ALK IHC screening for “unclassifiable RCCs” with heterogeneous features.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expanding the Molecular Spectrum of Secretory Carcinoma of Salivary Glands With a Novel VIM-RET Fusion.
Alena Skálová,Martina Baneckova,Lester D.R. Thompson,Nikola Ptáková,Todd M. Stevens,Luka Brcic,Martin Hyrcza,Michael Michal,Roderick H.W. Simpson,Thalita Santana,Michal Michal,Tomáš Vaněček,Ilmo Leivo +12 more
TL;DR: A novel finding in this study was the discovery of a VIM-RET fusion in 1 patient with SC of the parotid gland who could possibly benefit from RET-targeted therapy, the first SC-associated translocation with a non-ETV6 5′ fusion partner.
