TL;DR: Obese patients are at higher risk of TEE, and here OAC dramatically reduces the risk of events, and therefore OAC with the best safety profile should be considered in this setting.

To the Editor--Propranolol, a β-adrenoreceptor blocker, prevents arrhythmias also by its sodium channel blocking effect.
TL;DR: It seems plausible that the antiarrhythmic effect of a single application of intraperitoneal propranolol as described by Calvillo et al, given as a high-dose bolus just before carbachol application, mediated its anti-arrhythmmic effect at least partially through sodium channel blockade during the initial passage of proPRanolol into the blood.
