Molecular Investigation of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Infection in a Patient of an HIV-Infected Surgeon
TL;DR: Recall of patients who had been treated by a human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected surgeon uncovered 1 previously unknown HIV-seropositive person and it was concluded that none of the recalled patients were infected by the surgeon.
Comparison of human parechovirus and enterovirus detection frequencies in cerebrospinal fluid samples collected over a 5-year period in Edinburgh
Heli Harvala,Nigel McLeish,Jasmina Kondracka,Chloe McIntyre,E. C. McWilliam Leitch,Jeroen Witteveldt,Kate Templeton,Peter Simmonds +7 more
TL;DR: The highly sensitive virus typing methods applied in this study will assist further EV and HPeV screening of sepsis and meningitis cases as well as in future molecular epidemiological studies and population surveillance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Implications of variations of "conserved" regions of hepatitis C virus genome
Journal ArticleDOI
Emissions of ozone‐depleting halocarbons from China
Martin K. Vollmer,Lingxi Zhou,B. R. Greally,Stephan Henne,Bo Yao,Stefan Reimann,Frode Stordal,Derek M. Cunnold,Xingying Zhang,Michela Maione,Fang Zhang,Jian Yu Huang,Peter Simmonds +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a quasi-continuous ground-based atmospheric measurements were used to estimate China's current emissions of the most effective ozone-depleting substances (ODS).
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical significance of intrahepatic hepatitis C virus levels in patients with chronic HCV infection
Geoffrey Haydon,L M Jarvis,C S Blair,Peter Simmonds,David J. Harrison,Kenneth J. Simpson,P. C. Hayes +6 more
TL;DR: Repeatedly negative RT-PCR for HCV RNA in serum does not indicate absence of HCV from the liver, and intrahepatic HCV level was not determined by host factors, mode or duration of infection, or by virus factors (HCV genotype).
