Haploinsufficiency of TBK1 causes familial ALS and fronto-temporal dementia
Axel Freischmidt,Thomas Wieland,Benjamin Richter,Wolfgang Ruf,Veronique Schaeffer,Kathrin Muller,Nicolai Marroquin,Frida Nordin,Annemarie Hübers,Patrick Weydt,Susana Pinto,Rayomond Press,Stéphanie Millecamps,Nicolas Molko,Emilien Bernard,Claude Desnuelle,Marie-Hélène Soriani,Johannes Dorst,Elisabeth Graf,Ulrika Nordström,Marisa S. Feiler,Stefan Putz,Tobias M. Boeckers,Thomas F. Meyer,Andrea Sylvia Winkler,Juliane Winkelman,Mamede de Carvalho,Dietmar Rudolf Thal,Markus Otto,Thomas Brännström,Alexander E Volk,Petri Kursula,Karin M Danzer,Peter Lichtner,Ivan Dikic,Thomas Meitinger,Albert C. Ludolph,Tim M. Strom,Peter M Andersen,Jochen H. Weishaupt +39 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that haploinsufficiency of TBK1 causes ALS and fronto-temporal dementia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recognition of a functional peroxisome type 1 target by the dynamic import receptor pex5p.
Will A. Stanley,Fabian V. Filipp,Petri Kursula,Nicole Schüller,Ralf Erdmann,Wolfgang Schliebs,Michael Sattler,Matthias Wilmanns +7 more
TL;DR: The structure of the receptor/cargo complex demonstrates that the primary receptor-binding site of the cargo is structurally and topologically autonomous, enabling the cargo to retain its native structure and function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antagonistic Functions of MBP and CNP Establish Cytosolic Channels in CNS Myelin
Nicolas Snaidero,Nicolas Snaidero,Caroline Velte,Matti Myllykoski,Arne Raasakka,Arne Raasakka,Alexander Ignatev,Hauke B. Werner,Michelle S Erwig,Wiebke Möbius,Wiebke Möbius,Petri Kursula,Petri Kursula,Klaus-Armin Nave,Klaus-Armin Nave,Mikael Simons +15 more
TL;DR: This study identified 2,′3′-cyclic nucleotide 3′-phosphodiesterase (CNP), an oligodendrocyte-specific protein previously implicated in the maintenance of axonal integrity, as an essential factor in generating and maintaining cytoplasm within the myelin compartment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recognition of Mono-ADP-Ribosylated ARTD10 Substrates by ARTD8 Macrodomains
Alexandra H. Forst,Tobias Karlberg,Nicolas Herzog,Ann-Gerd Thorsell,Annika Gross,Karla L. H. Feijs,Patricia Verheugd,Petri Kursula,Petri Kursula,Bianca Nijmeijer,Elisabeth Kremmer,Henning Kleine,Andreas G. Ladurner,Herwig Schüler,Bernhard Lüscher +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors observed that ARTD10 colocalized with ARTD8 and defined its macrodomains 2 and 3 as readers of mono-ADP-ribosylation both in vitro and in cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular basis of the death-associated protein kinase-calcium/calmodulin regulator complex.
TL;DR: The crystal structure of a prototypical CaMK, death-associated protein kinase (DAPK), in a complex with CaM is described to determine how CaM binding regulates DAPK activity and likely provides a generally applicable model for regulation of CaMK activity.
