Mallampalli,Hülya Bayır,Uwe Schlattner,Uwe Schlattner +30 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a hexameric intermembrane space protein, NDPK-D (or NM23-H4), binds CL and facilitates its redistribution to the OMM, implicating fission–fusion dynamics in mitophagy regulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rigid amphipathic fusion inhibitors, small molecule antiviral compounds against enveloped viruses
Mireille R. St. Vincent,Che C. Colpitts,Alexey V. Ustinov,Muhammad Muqadas,Michael A. Joyce,Nicola Barsby,Raquel F. Epand,Richard M. Epand,Stanislav A. Khramyshev,Olga A. Valueva,Vladimir A. Korshun,D. Lorne Tyrrell,Luis M. Schang +12 more
TL;DR: A family of synthetic rigid amphiphiles of shape similar to such phospholipids, RAFIs (rigid amphipathic fusion inhibitors), inhibit the infectivity of several otherwise unrelated enveloped viruses, including hepatitis C and HSV-1 and -2, with no cytotoxic or cytostatic effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assignment of the histidine peaks in the nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum of ribonuclease.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Novel Linear Amphipathic β-Sheet Cationic Antimicrobial Peptide with Enhanced Selectivity for Bacterial Lipids
Jack Blazyk,Jack Blazyk,Russell Wiegand,Jason Klein,Janet L. Hammer,Richard M. Epand,Raquel F. Epand,W. Lee Maloy,U. Prasad Kari +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, an 18-residue linear cationic peptide, (KIGAKI)3-NH2, was designed to form a highly amphipathic β-sheet.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cationic liposomes for direct gene transfer in therapy of cancer and other diseases.
Hassan Farhood,Xiang Gao,Kyonghee Son,John S. Lazo,Leaf Huang,James Barsoum,Remo Bottega,Richard M. Epand +7 more
TL;DR: A serial therapy protocol with cis-platin and gene therapy for malignancy is suggested with cationic liposomes for the delivery of trans-activating protein factors to regulate and control the expression of delivered transgenes in a protein dose-dependent manner.
