Electrical switching of an antiferromagnet.
Peter Wadley,B. Howells,J. Železný,J. Železný,C. Andrews,V. Hills,R. P. Campion,Vít Novák,K. Olejník,Francesco Maccherozzi,Sarnjeet S. Dhesi,S. Y. Martin,Thomas Wagner,Thomas Wagner,Joerg Wunderlich,Joerg Wunderlich,Frank Freimuth,Yuriy Mokrousov,Jan Kuneš,J.S. Chauhan,M.J. Grzybowski,M.J. Grzybowski,A. W. Rushforth,K. W. Edmonds,B. L. Gallagher,Tomas Jungwirth +25 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate room-temperature electrical switching between stable configurations in antiferromagnetic CuMnAs thin-film devices by applied current with magnitudes of order 106 ampere per square centimeter.
Journal ArticleDOI
Giant Magnetic Anisotropy of Single Cobalt Atoms and Nanoparticles
Pietro Gambardella,Stefano Rusponi,M. Veronese,Sarnjeet S. Dhesi,C. Grazioli,A. Dallmeyer,Iván Cabria,Rudolf Zeller,Peter H. Dederichs,Klaus Kern,Carlo Carbone,Harald Brune +11 more
TL;DR: The isotropic magnetic moment of a free atom is shown to develop giant magnetic anisotropy energy due to symmetry reduction at an atomically ordered surface and the results confirm theoretical predictions and are of fundamental value to understanding how magnetic an isotropy develops in finite-sized magnetic particles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Catalyst-Free Efficient Growth, Orientation and Biosensing Properties of Multilayer Graphene Nanoflake Films with Sharp Edge Planes**
Nai Gui Shang,Pagona Papakonstantinou,Martin McMullan,Ming Chu,Artemis Stamboulis,A. Potenza,Sarnjeet S. Dhesi,Helder Marchetto +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition strategy was used for the efficient synthesis of multilayer graphene nanoflake films (MGNFs) on Si substrates.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: DAWN is a generic data analysis software platform developed for use at synchrotron beamlines for data visualization and analysis that is suitable for use in a range of scientific and engineering applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Giant and reversible extrinsic magnetocaloric effects in La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 films due to strain.
Xavier Moya,Luis E. Hueso,Francesco Maccherozzi,Alexandr Tovstolytkin,D. I. Podyalovskii,Caterina Ducati,L. C. Phillips,Massimo Ghidini,Massimo Ghidini,Ondrej Hovorka,Andreas Berger,Mary E. Vickers,Emmanuel Defay,Sarnjeet S. Dhesi,Neil D. Mathur +14 more
TL;DR: This work creates giant and reversible extrinsic magnetocaloric effects in epitaxial films of the ferromagnetic manganite La( 0.7)Ca(0.3)MnO(3) using strain-mediated feedback from BaTiO( 3) substrates near a first-order structural phase transition.
