Journal ArticleDOI

Protective variant for hippocampal atrophy identified by whole exome sequencing.

TL;DR: REST is a master regulator of neurogenesis and neuronal differentiation that has not been previously implicated in Alzheimer's disease and its functional pathways are nominated as protective and illustrate the potential of combining next‐generation sequencing with neuroimaging to discover novel disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationship between baseline brain metabolism measured using [18F]FDG PET and memory and executive function in prodromal and early Alzheimer’s disease

TL;DR: The associations between brain metabolism and cognition in this study suggest the importance of parietal and temporal lobar regions in memory and executive function in the early stages of disease and an increased importance of frontal regions for memory with increasing impairment.
