Inhibition of Wnt signaling by ICAT, a novel β-catenin-interacting protein
Kenichi Tago,Tsutomu Nakamura,Michiru Nishita,Junko Hyodo,Shin-ichi Nagai,Yoji Murata,Shungo Adachi,Susumu Ohwada,Yasuo Morishita,Hiroshi Shibuya,Tetsu Akiyama +10 more
TL;DR: This study shows that a novel β-catenin-interacting protein, termed ICAT (inhibitor of β-Catenin and TCF-4), interferes with the interaction between β- catenin -TCF/LEF-mediated transactivation and antagonizes Wnt signaling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of BMP and Activin Membrane-bound Inhibitor (BAMBI), an Inhibitor of Transforming Growth Factor-β Signaling, as a Target of the β-Catenin Pathway in Colorectal Tumor Cells
Takashi Sekiya,Shungo Adachi,Kazuyoshi Kohu,Tatsuya Yamada,Osamu Higuchi,Yoichi Furukawa,Yusuke Nakamura,Tsutomu Nakamura,Kousuke Tashiro,Satoru Kuhara,Susumu Ohwada,Tetsu Akiyama +11 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that β-catenin interferes with transforming growth factor-β-mediated growth arrest by inducing the expression of BAMBI, and this may contribute to colorectal and hepatocellular tumorigenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of a link between Wnt/β-catenin signalling and the cell fusion pathway
Ken Matsuura,Takafumi Jigami,Kenzui Taniue,Yasuyuki Morishita,Shungo Adachi,Takao Senda,Aya Nonaka,Hiroyuki Aburatani,Tsutomu Nakamura,Tetsu Akiyama +9 more
TL;DR: A signal transduction pathway that regulates cell fusion is demonstrated, and may provide intriguing perspectives into the various biological and pathological processes that involve cell fusion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Codon bias confers stability to human mRNAs
Fabian Hia,Sheng Fan Yang,Yuichi Shichino,Masanori Yoshinaga,Yasuhiro Murakawa,Alexis Vandenbon,Akira Fukao,Toshinobu Fujiwara,Markus Landthaler,Markus Landthaler,Tohru Natsume,Shungo Adachi,Shintaro Iwasaki,Osamu Takeuchi +13 more
TL;DR: ILF2 and ILF3 are identified as RNA‐binding proteins that differentially regulate global mRNA abundances based on codon bias and it is demonstrated thatCodon bias is a two‐pronged system that governs mRNA abundance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of a BCL9-Related β-Catenin-Binding Protein, B9L, in Tumorigenesis Induced by Aberrant Activation of Wnt Signaling
Shungo Adachi,Takafumi Jigami,Toshio Yasui,Tetsuhiro Nakano,Susumu Ohwada,Yoshihiro Omori,Sumio Sugano,Bisei Ohkawara,Hiroshi Shibuya,Tsutomu Nakamura,Tetsu Akiyama +10 more
TL;DR: It is found that B9L is required for enhanced β-catenin-TCF–mediated transcription in colorectal tumor cells and for β-Catenin–induced transformation of RK3E cells, suggesting that B 9L plays an important role in tumorigenesis induced by aberrant activation of Wnt signaling.
