Journal ArticleDOI

Accurate determination of the charge state distribution in a well characterized highly ionized Au plasma

TL;DR: In this paper, the density, temperature and charge state distribution in a highly ionized non-LTE Au sample are accurately determined in a thin Be foil, reaching temperatures of 2 keV and ionizing into the M-shell.
Journal ArticleDOI

Observation of the density threshold behavior for the onset of stimulated Raman scattering in high-temperature hohlraum plasmas.

TL;DR: It is shown that the measured stimulated Raman scattering in a large-scale high-temperature plasma scales strongly with the plasma density, increasing by an order of magnitude when the electron density is increased by 20%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Status of our understanding and modeling of x-ray coupling efficiency in laser heated hohlraums

TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison of modeling and data from a very broad range of hohlraum experiments indicates that radiation hydrodynamics simulation codes reproduce measurements of time dependent x-radiation flux to about ±10%.
