Journal ArticleDOI

Enveloped Viruses Disable Innate Immune Responses in Dendritic Cells by Direct Activation of TAM Receptors

TL;DR: It is found that ligand-coated viruses activate TAM receptors on dendritic cells (DCs), dampen type I IFN signaling, and thereby evade host immunity and promote infection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ebola virus uses clathrin-mediated endocytosis as an entry pathway

TL;DR: Sensitivity of EbGP pseudotyped HIV as well as infectious EBOV to inhibitors of clathrin suggests that EBOv uses clathin-mediated endocytosis as an entry pathway, and since chlorpromazine inhibits E BOV infection, novel therapeutic modalities could be designed based on this lead compound.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differential requirements for clathrin endocytic pathway components in cellular entry by Ebola and Marburg glycoprotein pseudovirions.

TL;DR: Clathrin-mediated endocytosis was previously implicated as one of the cellular pathways involved in filoviral glycoprotein mediated viral entry into target cells, but an unexpected difference between the clathrin pathway requirements for Ebola GP versus Marburg GP pseudovirion infection is revealed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Full-length Ebola glycoprotein accumulates in the endoplasmic reticulum

TL;DR: It is suggested that full-length GP, but not GPΔmucin, accumulates in the ER in close proximity to the nuclear membrane, which may underscore its cytotoxic property.
