Journal ArticleDOI
Notch-related genes in animal development.
TL;DR: The structure of Notch-related proteins is examined and how genetic and transgenic studies are helping to understand the mechanism(s) by which these proteins function is examined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Domain-specific control of neurogenesis achieved through patterned regulation of Notch ligand expression.
Ulrika Marklund,Emil M. Hansson,Erik Sundström,Martin Hrabé de Angelis,Gerhard K. H. Przemeck,Urban Lendahl,Jonas Muhr,Jonas Muhr,Johan Ericson +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that HD proteins act upstream of Notch signalling, which appears to endow specific progenitor populations with a domain-wide autonomy in the control of neurogenesis and prevents any inadequate activation of notch across progenitors domain boundaries.
Journal Article
Notch -- a goldilocks signaling pathway in disease and cancer therapy.
TL;DR: This review discusses recent findings on how signal transduction is tuned in the Notch pathway and how Notch signaling is dysregulated in disease, and different strategies to modulate notch signaling for clinical use by novel antibody-based tools and by taking advantage of the cross-talk between Notch and other signaling mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Notch induces cyclin-D1-dependent proliferation during a specific temporal window of neural differentiation in ES cells.
Debashish Das,Fredrik Lanner,Heather Main,Emma R. Andersson,Olaf Bergmann,Cecilia Sahlgren,Nina Heldring,Ola Hermanson,Emil M. Hansson,Urban Lendahl +9 more
TL;DR: A novel temporal context-dependent function of Notch and a critical role for cyclin D1 in the Notch-induced proliferation in ES cells are defined.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Critical Role for Sox9 in Notch-Induced Astrogliogenesis and Stem Cell Maintenance
Simone Martini,Kristina Bernoth,Heather Main,German Dario Camargo Ortega,Urban Lendahl,Ursula Just,Ralf Schwanbeck +6 more
TL;DR: A critical role is revealed for Notch‐mediated upregulation of Sox9 in a select set of neural lineage determination steps controlled by Notch in the context of astroglial differentiation.
