Journal ArticleDOI
A single-question screen for rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder: a multicenter validation study.
Ronald B. Postuma,Isabelle Arnulf,Birgit Högl,Alex Iranzo,Tomoyuki Miyamoto,Yves Dauvilliers,Wolfgang H. Oertel,Yo-El Ju,Monica Puligheddu,Poul Jennum,Amélie Pelletier,Christina Wolfson,Smaranda Leu-Semenescu,Birgit Frauscher,Masayuki Miyamoto,Valérie Cochen De Cock,Marcus M. Unger,Karin Stiasny-Kolster,Maria Livia Fantini,Maria Livia Fantini,Jacques Montplaisir +20 more
TL;DR: The RBD1Q screening question is designed, a screening question for dream enactment with a simple yes/no response foriopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Restoration of normal motor control in Parkinson's disease during REM sleep
Valérie Cochen De Cock,Marie Vidailhet,Smaranda Leu,Antonio Texeira,Emmanuelle Apartis,Alexis Elbaz,Emmanuel Roze,Jean-Claude Willer,J.P. Derenne,Yves Agid,Isabelle Arnulf +10 more
TL;DR: The restored motor control during REM sleep suggests a transient 'levodopa-like' reestablishment of the basal ganglia loop and parkinsonism may disappear by REM sleep-related disjunction between pyramidal and extrapyramidal systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Is obstructive sleep apnea a problem in Parkinson's disease?
Valérie Cochen De Cock,Maher Abouda,Smaranda Leu,Delphine Oudiette,Emmanuel Roze,Marie Vidailhet,Thomas Similowski,Isabelle Arnulf +7 more
TL;DR: Obstructive sleep apnea does not seem to be a clinically relevant issue in Parkinson's disease, and daytime sleepiness, nocturia and cognitive impairment are mostly caused by other, non-apneic mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sleep disturbances in patients with parkinsonism.
TL;DR: Improving night-time motor control by overnight treatment with levodopa, transdermal or long-acting dopamine agonists, or bilateral subthalamus stimulation, can improve sleep continuity in Parkinson's disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comorbidity and medication in REM sleep behavior disorder: A multicenter case-control study
Birgit Frauscher,Poul Jennum,Yo-El Ju,Ronald B. Postuma,Isabelle Arnulf,Valérie Cochen De Cock,Yves Dauvilliers,Maria Livia Fantini,Luigi Ferini-Strambi,David Gabelia,A. Iranzo,Smaranda Leu-Semenescu,Thomas Mitterling,Masayuki Miyamoto,Tomoyuki Miyamoto,Jacques Montplaisir,Wolfgang H. Oertel,Amélie Pelletier,Paolo Prunetti,Monica Puligheddu,Joan Santamaria,Karel Sonka,Marcus M. Unger,Christina Wolfson,Marco Zucconi,Michele Terzaghi,Birgit Högl,Geert Mayer,Raffaele Manni +28 more
TL;DR: The association between comorbid depression and antidepressant use in patients with polysomnographically confirmed idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder (iRBD) is confirmed and there was an unexpected association of iRBD with ischemic heart disease that was not explained by cardiovascular risk factors.
