Journal ArticleDOI
NOTCH1 mutations in CLL associated with trisomy 12
Veronica Balatti,Arianna Bottoni,Alexey Palamarchuk,Hansjuerg Alder,Laura Z. Rassenti,Thomas J. Kipps,Yuri Pekarsky,Carlo M. Croce +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of sequencing of XPO1 and NOTCH1 in 186 CLL cases were reported, and the results confirmed frequency of notch1 mutations in 2.4% of cases, while notCH1 was found mutated in 12.2% or 15.1% of CLL samples.
Journal ArticleDOI
Karyotype-specific microRNA signature in chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Rosa Visone,Laura Z. Rassenti,Angelo Veronese,Angelo Veronese,Cristian Taccioli,Stefan Costinean,Baltazar D. Aguda,Stefano Volinia,Manuela Ferracin,Jeff Palatini,Veronica Balatti,Hansjuerg Alder,Massimo Negrini,Thomas J. Kipps,Carlo M. Croce +14 more
TL;DR: The use of the microRNA-based classifications may yield clinically useful biomarkers of tumor behavior in CLL, and IGHV unmutated, high expression of ZAP-70 protein, and low expression of themiR-223, miR-29c, mi R-29b, and miR -181 family were strongly associated with disease progression in Cll cases harboring 17p deletion.
Journal ArticleDOI
tsRNA signatures in cancer.
Veronica Balatti,Giovanni Nigita,Dario Veneziano,Alessandra Drusco,Gary S. Stein,Terri L. Messier,Nicholas H. Farina,Jane B. Lian,Luisa Tomasello,Chang Gong Liu,Alexey Palamarchuk,Jonathan R. Hart,Catherine M Bell,Mariantonia Carosi,Edoardo Pescarmona,Letizia Perracchio,Maria Grazia Diodoro,Andrea Russo,Anna Antenucci,Paolo Visca,Antonio Ciardi,Curtis C. Harris,Peter K. Vogt,Yuri Pekarsky,Carlo M. Croce +24 more
TL;DR: It is found that tRNA-derived small RNAs (tsRNAs) are dysregulated in many cancers and that their expression is modulated during cancer development and staging, and tsRNA-KO cells display a specific change in gene-expression profile, suggesting tsRNAs could be key effectors in cancer-related pathways.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dysregulation of a family of short noncoding RNAs, tsRNAs, in human cancer.
Yuri Pekarsky,Veronica Balatti,Alexey Palamarchuk,Lara Rizzotto,Dario Veneziano,Giovanni Nigita,Laura Z. Rassenti,Harvey I. Pass,Thomas J. Kipps,Chang Gong Liu,Carlo M. Croce +10 more
TL;DR: The results show that tsRNAs are dysregulated in human cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
In vivo NCL targeting affects breast cancer aggressiveness through miRNA regulation
Flavia Pichiorri,Dario Palmieri,Luciana De Luca,Jessica Consiglio,Jia You,Alberto Rocci,Tiffany Talabere,Claudia Piovan,Alessandro Laganà,Luciano Cascione,Jingwen Guan,Pierluigi Gasparini,Veronica Balatti,Gerard J. Nuovo,Vincenzo Coppola,Craig C. Hofmeister,Guido Marcucci,John C. Byrd,Stefano Volinia,Charles L. Shapiro,Michael A. Freitas,Carlo M. Croce +21 more
TL;DR: The regulatory protein nucleolin controls the expression of a subset of miRNAs involved in breast cancer progression and can be targeted to inhibit breast cancer growth in vivo.
