Journal ArticleDOI
The Cardiac Mechanical Stretch Sensor Machinery Involves a Z Disc Complex that Is Defective in a Subset of Human Dilated Cardiomyopathy
Ralph Knöll,Masahiko Hoshijima,Hal M. Hoffman,Veronika Person,Ilka Lorenzen-Schmidt,Marie Louise Bang,Takeharu Hayashi,Nobuyuki Shiga,Hideo Yasukawa,Wolfgang Schaper,William J. McKenna,Mitsuhiro Yokoyama,Nicholas J. Schork,Jeffrey H. Omens,Andrew D. McCulloch,Akinori Kimura,Carol C. Gregorio,Wolfgang Poller,Jutta Schaper,Heinz P. Schultheiss,Kenneth R. Chien +20 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that a Z disc MLP/T-cap complex is a key component of the in vivo cardiomyocyte stretch sensor machinery, and that defects in the complex can lead to human DCM and associated heart failure.
Journal ArticleDOI
The carboxyl-terminal region of ahnak provides a link between cardiac L-type Ca2+ channels and the actin-based cytoskeleton
Annette Hohaus,Veronika Person,Joachim Behlke,Jutta Schaper,Ingo Morano,Ingo Morano,Hannelore Haase,Hannelore Haase +7 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that ahnak provides a structural basis for the subsarcolemmal cytoarchitecture and confers the regulatory role of the actin‐based cytoskeleton to the L‐type Ca2+ channel.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time course of the apoptotic cascade and effects of caspase inhibitors in adult rat ventricular cardiomyocytes.
TL;DR: The results indicate that the occurrence of the different steps of the apoptotic cascade is time-dependent and tightly regulated, suggesting that the cells are destined to die upstream of the caspase step, i.e. by mitochondrial damage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of EMAP II by Hypoxia
Susanne Matschurat,Ulrike E. Knies,Veronika Person,Ludger Fink,Benjamin Stoelcker,Chinedu Ebenebe,Heike A. Behrensdorf,Jutta Schaper,Matthias Clauss +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated in vivo that EMAP II mRNA expression is strongly increased in tumor necrosis factor alpha-treated murine meth A fibrosarcomas and in B16 melanomas and in close proximity to areas of tissue necrosis.
Journal Article
Antisense oligonucleotide experiments elucidate the essential role of titin in sarcomerogenesis in adult rat cardiomyocytes in long-term culture
TL;DR: Findings provide evidence for the role of titin as a template for myosin incorporation and therefore as a prerequisite for sarcomerogenesis.
