TL;DR: Significant less area of sealer occurred than that achieved with both NiTi preparation systems followed by cold lateral compaction with the combined use of ProFile + Thermafil Obturator and System GT + GT Obturators.
Abstract: Aim To compare the area of sealer surrounding root fillings completed by two coated carrier systems (Thermafil Obturator and System GT Obturator) and the cold lateral compaction technique, following root canal preparation with two different NiTi rotary systems (Profile ISO and System GT). Methodology Sixty extracted human mandibular premolars were instrumented with ProFile ISO 0.06 taper and System GT instruments (n = 30 each). The teeth were divided into four subgroups (n = 15) for filling as following: group 1: ProFile + Thermafil Obturator, group 2: ProFile + Cold Lateral Compaction, group 3: System GT + GT Obturator, and group 4: System GT + Cold Lateral Compaction. In all groups the canals were prepared to a final size of 40, 0.06 taper in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and Topseal was used as a sealer. Horizontal sections were obtained every 1 mm up to 12 mm from the apical foramen. Sections were digitally photographed under a stereomicroscope and the images were transferred to an IBM-compatible PC for image analysis. The cross-sectional area of the root canal and the area filled by sealer were calculated for each section and compared statistically both at all levels and by grouping the data as apical, middle and coronal segments; using the Kruskal–Wallis test with Bonferroni correction and chi-square tests (P = 0.05). Results In the apical third (1–4 mm), the GT Obturator (group 3) had significantly less area of sealer (P 0.05). For the middle and coronal thirds, both coated-carrier systems had significantly less area of sealer compared with their laterally compacted counterparts (P < 0.05). Conclusions With the combined use of ProFile + Thermafil Obturator and System GT + GT Obturator, significantly less area of sealer occurred than that achieved with both NiTi preparation systems followed by cold lateral compaction.

TL;DR: SD, mood, and anxiety disorders are frequently observed in female patients with fibromyalgia, and pain plays a greater role in the development of SD infemale patients with FM.
Abstract: Background We aimed to investigate the current prevalence of sexual dysfunction (SD), mood, anxiety, and personality disorders in female patients with fibromyalgia (FM).

TL;DR: The aim of the present study was to investigate the usefulness of insulin check indices in the hospital population and find out if they are useful in patients with diabetes.
Abstract: Aim: The aim of the present study was to investigate the usefulness of insulin sensitivity check indices in our hospital population. Methods: Both HOMA (insulin X glucose in mmol/l/22.5) and QUICKI (1/log insulin in μu/ml + log glucose in mg/dl) indices were calculated from fasting values in 1774 subjects from the medical records of Baskent University Adana Hospital. Results: Subjects with diabetes, hyperlipidaemia and central obesity were characterized by significantly higher HOMA and lower QUICKI indices than those of healthy subjects. A fall in the QUICKI index (0.3469 ± 0.028 in healthy subjects and 0.3247 ± 0.025 in non-obese diabetics) as well as an increase in HOMA index (2.24 ± 1.26 in healthy subjects and 3.59 ± 2.08 in non-obese diabetics) corresponded to metabolic and clinical manifestations of insulin resistance in various groups of subjects. Age, low HDL cholesterol, male sex, type 2 DM and hypertension were independent risk factors for CAD. Age, male sex, waist circumference and CAD were found to be risk factors for hypertension. Fasting insulin and glucose levels contain sufficient information to assess insulin sensitivity over a wide range in a diverse population. The following can be accepted as mean values to assess insulin resistance in our hospital population: 0.3469 ± 0.028 for the QUICKI index and 2.24 ± 1.26 for the HOMA index Conclusions: HOMA and QUICKI indices are simple and reproducible methods for determining insulin sensitivity in humans.

TL;DR: Twenty patients with hepatic artery stenoses or thrombosis following liver transplant are included in this study and 18 of the 20 patients were successfully treated by stent placement, with nine patients with patent hepatic arteries died during follow-up owing to reasons unrelated to the stent interventions.
Abstract: Hepatic artery stenosis or thrombosis following liver transplant is a potentially life-threatening complication. Successful liver transplant depends on uncompromised hepatic arterial inflow. Early diagnosis and treatment of complications prolong graft survival. Interventional radiologic techniques are frequently used to treat hepatic artery complications. Twenty patients with hepatic artery stenoses (n = 11) or thromboses (n = 9) were included in this study. Eighteen of the 20 patients were successfully treated by stent placement. In 9 patients, early endovascular interventions were performed 1 to 7 days after surgery. Two patients were operated owing to the effects of dissection and bleeding from the hepatic artery. Repeat endovascular interventions were performed 10 times in 6 patients. Follow-up ranged from 5 months to 4.5 years. Nine patients with patent hepatic arteries died during follow-up owing to reasons unrelated to the hepatic artery interventions. In 3 patients, the stents became occluded at 3, 5, and 9 months after surgery but no clinical symptoms were present.

TL;DR: In this article, the relationship between neck circumferences and obesity was found to be positively associated with body weight, BMI, waist circumference, waist and hip circumference and waist/hip ratio for men and women.
Abstract: Background : Neck circumference (NC) measurement is one of the simple screening measurements which can be used as an index of upper body fat distribution to identify obesity Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between neck circumferences and obesity Methods :A total 411 volunteer adults participated in this study (174 men, 237 women) A questionnaire which consisted of anthropometric measurements and demographic features was used Patients with NC ≥37 cm for men and ≥34 cm for women require evaluation of overweight status Results : The percentages of the men and women with BMI ≥ 25kg/m 2 were 552% and 270% respectively and with high neck circumferences were 851% and 388%, respectively The percentages of the men and women with high waist circumference were 316% and 793%, respectively In both gender there were positive significant correlations between neck circumference, body weight (men, r=0576; women, r=0702; p=0000), waist circumferences (men, r=0593; women r=0667; p=0000), hip circumferences (men, r=0568; women, r=0617; p=0000) and BMI (men, r=0587; women, r=0688; p=0000) Conclusions : This study indicates that NC was associated with body weight, BMI, waist and hip circumferences and waist/hip ratio for men and women A significant association was found between NC and conventional overweight and obesity indexes NC was associated with waist/hip ratio for men and women Key words : Neck circumference, obesity
