Abstract: In this case study, the aim was to implement project-based learning by utilizing e-portfolio assessment in a small-scale classroom (N = 8). The compulsory Design, Development, and Evaluation of Educational Software course in the curriculum of the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology was selected due to its strong relationship with real life while lending itself to addressing the major concern of project-based learning. Despite insufficient classroom size and students’ challenges on animation software, it was found that project-based learning was an appropriate choice for conducting such a course. Moreover, e-portfolio assessment proved to be valuable in project-based learning. In the rest of the paper, findings from other research studies evaluating project-based learning are discussed and recommendations are presented.

Abstract: There is a nascent literature on the question of whether active learning methods, and in particular simulation methods, enhance student learning. In this article, the authors evaluate the utility of an international relations simulation in enhancing learning objectives. Student evaluations provide evidence that the simulation process enhances their knowledge of such abstract theories and concepts. Moreover, the results suggest that the simulation increases students' interest in political science/international relations and provides a memorable experience that they will not forget.

Abstract: Background and aim Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT), which is thought to be a component of visceral adiposity, is associated with the metabolic syndrome. We aimed to test the hypothesis that echocardiographic EAT thickness can be a marker for the presence and severity of coronary artery disease (CAD). Method and results In all, 150 patients (100 patients with CAD and 50 patients with normal coronary arteries by diagnostic coronary angiography; 65 women, 85 men; mean age 55.7±7.4years) were enrolled. EAT thickness was measured using 2-D echocardiographic parasternal long- and short-axis views. EAT thickness measurements were compared with angiographic findings. EAT thickness was significantly higher in patients with CAD in comparison to those with normal coronary arteries (6.9±1.5mm vs. 4.4±0.8mm; P P r =0.600, P P Conclusion EAT thickness, which is easily and non-invasively evaluated by transthoracic echocardiography, can be an adjunctive marker to classical risk factors for the prediction of CAD.

Abstract: We drop the complexification procedure from the Newman-Janis algorithm and introduce more physical arguments and symmetry properties, and we show how one can generate regular and singular rotating black hole and non-black-hole solutions in Boyer-Lindquist coordinates. We focus on generic rotating regular black holes and show that they are regular on the Kerr-like ring, but physical entities are undefined there. We show that rotating regular black holes have much smaller electric charges, and, with increasing charge, they turn into regular non-black-hole solutions well before their Kerr-Newman counterparts become naked singularities. No causality violations occur in the region inside a rotating regular black hole. The separability of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation for neutral particles is also carried out in the generic case, and the innermost boundaries of circular orbits for particles are briefly discussed. Other, but special, properties pertaining to the rotating regular counterpart of the Ay\'on-Beato--Garc\'{\i}a regular static black hole are also investigated.
