TL;DR: In this article, an electrode with a catalytic ink containing a CuAg bimetallic material as an electrocatalyst for creatinine oxidation was developed for fuel cell-based self-powered electrochemical sensors.
Abstract: Fuel cell-based self-powered electrochemical sensors have attracted considerable attention because contrary to conventional electrochemical sensors, they do not need external power supplies and complex devices due to they operate through the use of electrical output as sensing signal provided by redox reactions in fuel cells. Creatinine has been considered as an indicator of renal function specifically after dialysis, thyroid malfunction and muscle damage. The development of a suitable catalytic material for creatinine sensing able to generate electrical energy from its oxidation is still a challenge. Creatinine can form complexes with different transition metals due to the number of binding sites that coordinate with the metal donor groups such as copper. However, Cu suffers fast oxidation under environmental conditions and thus, the development of Cu alloys is needed. In this work, we developed an electrode with a catalytic ink containing a CuAg bimetallic material as an electrocatalyst for creatinine oxidation. The electrode was evaluated in a fuel cell and creatinine sensing.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the effect of samarium on hydrogen adsorption and the electrocatalytic activity of the platinum electrode for the hydrogenation of benzene in 0.5 M sulfuric acid as supporting electrolyte.
Abstract: The hydrogenation of benzene on platinum electrodes in 0.5 M sulfuric acid as supporting electrolyte has been studied in the presence and the absence of samarium in solution. The hydrogenation overpotential of preadsorbed benzene was diminished to ∼ 90 mV with samarium in the solution and the hydrogenation current was significatively increased. These results are interpreted in terms of a synergic effect of samarium on hydrogen adsorption and, consequently, on the electrocatalytic activity of the platinum electrode for the hydrogenation of benzene.

TL;DR: In this article, the performance against corrosion of a thin film of NiCu deposited by Physical Vapor Deposition at two different times of deposition, was evaluated, showing a gradual increase in resistivity due to the degradation of the film (delamination) for both times.
Abstract: In this paper the performance against corrosion of a thin film of NiCu deposited by Physical Vapor Deposition at two different times of deposition, was evaluated. Electrochemical Impedance results in NaCl solution, showed a gradual increase in resistivity due to the degradation of the film (delamination) for both times, along with the deposition of corrosion products on the coating generated by re-combination of substrate oxides.
