TL;DR: In this article, a continuous discrete approach based on the concept of lumped mass and equivalent continuous approach is proposed for free vibration analysis of combined system of framed tube, shear core and outrigger-belt truss in high-rise buildings.
Abstract: In this paper, a continuous–discrete approach based on the concept of lumped mass and equivalent continuous approach is proposed for free vibration analysis of combined system of framed tube, shear core and outrigger-belt truss in high-rise buildings. This system is treated as a continuous system (i.e., discrete beams and columns are replaced with equivalent continuous membranes) and a discrete system (or lumped mass system) at different stages of dynamic analysis. The structure is discretized at each floor of the building as a series of lumped masses placed at the center of shear core. Each mass has two transitional degrees of freedom (lateral and axial( and one rotational. The effect of shear core and outrigger-belt truss on framed tube system is modeled as a rotational spring placed at the location of outrigger-belt truss system along structure’s height. By solving the resulting eigen problem, natural frequencies and mode-shapes are obtained. Numerical examples are presented to show acceptable accuracy of the procedure in estimating the fundamental frequencies and corresponding mode shapes of the combined system as compared to finite element analysis of the complete structure. The simplified proposed method is much faster and should be more suitable for rapid interactive design.

TL;DR: In this paper, point rainfall estimations were assessed using a spatial correlation approach in the Kerman region, Iran, based on monthly rainfall data for existing 117 rain gauge stations in the study area.
Abstract: The present study is aimed at evaluation of a rain gauge network in order to optimize a network design. In this regard, point rainfall estimations were assessed using a spatial correlation approach in the Kerman region, Iran. This approach was implemented based on monthly rainfall data for existing 117 rain gauge stations in the study area. The results revealed that the regular arrangement of rain gauges could provide the reliable values for accurate rainfall estimation. Low density of rain gauge combined with the low rainfall values may result in strong increase of the interpolation errors. Based on the existing rain gauge network, the relative mean error of observed rainfalls (E a ) is less than 5 % over the study area. The spatial interpolation errors (E i ) were considered to optimize the design of rain gauge network at the confidence level of 85 %, where the mean errors were exhibited from 8.5 to 14 % in districts A and B, respectively. On this basis, about 46 locations were proposed for allocation of new stations. Therefore, it was suggested to relocate about 20 existing stations in order to achieve an accurate design.

TL;DR: This paper deals with the design of low loss wideband power dividers based on groove gap waveguide (GGW) technology and shows that the gain and total radiation efficiency of the antenna are more than 32.5 dBi and 90% over the desired frequency range from 56 to 66.4 GHz.
Abstract: This paper deals with the design of low loss wideband power dividers based on groove gap waveguide (GGW) technology. The advantages of GGW power dividers are low insertion loss, high power handling capacities, ease of fabrication and compatibility with integrated microwave networks. A 64-way power divider is designed and used as the feeding network of a 16×16-element slot antenna array at 60-GHz band. The results show that the gain and total radiation efficiency of the antenna are more than 32.5 dBi and 90% over the desired frequency range from 56 to 66.4 GHz.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focused on the active control of the chaotic behaviour generated by the nonlinear model characteristics of the MR dampers in a typical heavy articulated vehicle. And the active controller is proposed to control the chaotic behaviours.
Abstract: Magnetorheological dampers are used for semi-active control of the vehicles vibration because of their useful features such as reducing the dynamic tire forces, improvement the ride quality of the passengers and protection of the vehicle from rollover The dynamic model of these dampers is nonlinear Therefore, their nonlinear characteristics can lead to make the chaotic behaviour of the vehicle system if a suitable controller is not used This paper focuses on the active control of the chaotic behaviour generated by the nonlinear model characteristics of the MR dampers in a typical heavy articulated vehicle The vehicle nonlinear dynamic study is conducted by detecting the irregular regions using the bifurcation diagrams and Poincare maps Then, the active controller is proposed to control the chaotic behaviours The control law was derived based on the backstepping method, and the stability analysis is performed by Lyapunov theorem Then, optimal backstepping control is designed for controlling the chaos in the vehicle The simulation results show the vehicle displacements can track a periodic desired motion The robustness of the proposed controller is studied by inserting external disturbance force The simulation results show that the vehicle body displacements converge to periodic desired path in spite of the existing external disturbance
