TL;DR: A new method using Quantum Particle Swarm Optimization (QPSO) algorithm has been developed in order to flatten power density distribution in WWER-1000 Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) and thereby provide a better safety margin.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed and compared flicker emission, voltage fluctuations, and mechanical loads for two small-scale wind turbines (WTs), considering different control strategies, such as active yaw and stall control strategies for above rated wind speed operation to limit the captured power.

TL;DR: In this article, a very sensitive method is described for selective accumulation and determination of trace amounts of antimony based on the antimony-bromopyrogallol red (BPR) complex adsorption onto a carbon paste electrode modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes.
Abstract: In this study, a very sensitive method is described for selective accumulation and determination of trace amounts of antimony based on the antimony–bromopyrogallol red (BPR) complex adsorption onto a carbon paste electrode modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes. The overall analysis involved a three-step procedure: a closed-circuit accumulation step onto the modified carbon paste electrode, reduction, and anodic stripping. An anodic peak was observed at 0.48 V. This peak which depends on the oxidation of accumulated and reduced Sb(III) on the electrode surface was registered. The calibration curve was linear in the range of 0.01–14.00 ng mL−1. The limit of detection was found to be 0.0033 ng mL−1, and the relative standard deviations for seven replicated determinations at 3.00 and 8.00 ng mL−1 of antimony were obtained to be 2.28 and 1.02 %, respectively. The modified electrode was applied successfully for the analysis of antimony in different water samples. Spiked recoveries for water samples were in the range of 92.0–104.4 %.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived the Casimir-Polder and van der Waals potentials of one or two atoms with diamagnetic properties in an arbitrary environment of magnetoelectric bodies.
Abstract: We derive Casimir-Polder and van der Waals potentials of one or two atoms with diamagnetic properties in an arbitrary environment of magnetoelectric bodies. The calculations are based on macroscopic quantum electrodynamics and leading-order perturbation theory. For the examples of an atom and a perfect mirror and two atoms in free space, we show that diamagnetic dispersion potentials have the same sign as their electric counterparts but can exhibit quite different distance dependences.

TL;DR: A potassium ion optode based on the fluorescence quenching of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) was constructed and a linear dynamic range of about one-order of magnitude with a correlation coefficient of 0.99 was obtained.
Abstract: Photophysical phenomena associated with carbon nanoparticles in combination with biocompatibility and readily functionalizable properties have attracted significant interest for sensing and imaging applications. A potassium ion optode based on the fluorescence quenching of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) was constructed. The CQDs were synthesized using a microwave method, citric acid and 2,2'-(ethylene-dioxy)bis(ethylamine). A quantum yield of 7.1% was calculated for the synthesized CQDs. A linear dynamic range of about one-order of magnitude with a correlation coefficient of 0.99 was obtained. The optode was applied on real samples and a 0.60-1.60% error range was obtained relative to the ion-selective electrode.
