TL;DR: In this article, the linear crack located at the bimaterial interface between dissimilar homogeneous linearly elastic materials under normally incident harmonic tension-compression wave was considered and solved by the method of boundary integral equations using an iterative algorithm.
Abstract: The linear crack located at the bimaterial interface between dissimilar homogeneous linearly elastic materials under normally incident harmonic tension-compression wave is considered in the study. The problem is solved by the method of boundary integral equations using an iterative algorithm. The dynamic stress intensity factors are computed as functions of the loading frequency taking the contact interaction of the opposite crack's faces into account. (© 2010 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that if a linear algebra with identity has two equivalent unital algebra norms, |.| 1 and |.• 2, whose corresponding numerical radii, v 1 and v 2, are equal on the whole algebra, are not necessarily equal.
Abstract: This paper owes its origin to the following question posed by A. M. Sinclair, “If a linear algebra with identity has two equivalent unital algebra norms, |.| 1 and |.| 2 , whose corresponding numerical radii, v 1 and v 2 , are equal on the whole algebra, are |.| 1 and |.| 2 related? Are they, for example, necessarily equal?” We do not give a complete answer to this question but are able to give sufficient conditions on algebras of operators for v 1 = v 2 to imply |.| 1 = |.| 2 That this implication does not hold for an arbitrary algebra with identity is demonstrated by means of a counter-example. The result for operator algebras is used to deduce some essentially non numerical range results for equivalent operator norms.

TL;DR: In this article, indirect estimates of the thermal conductivities of two commercial powdered activated carbons are made from ignition experiments, and the results indicate that existing literature estimates of such materials might not be broadly applicable.

TL;DR: The polarity between hierarchical and egalitarian perspectives on the relationship of male and female is not the best way to approach this passage (1 Cor 11.2.2-16), which interprets this relationship as one of interdependence.
Abstract: The polarity between ‘hierarchical’ and ‘egalitarian’ perspectives on the relationship of male and female is not the best way to approach this passage (1 Cor 11.2–16), which interprets this relationship as one of interdependence. This interdependence is expressed in the shared practices of prophecy and prayer, in which the dialogue between God and the congregation is articulated. In Paul's proposed modification to these practices, female head-covering – probably a veil – serves as a symbol of women's freedom from an erotic basis for the relationship of male and female derived from creation.
