TL;DR: A comprehensive overview of the progress of organics containing carbonyls for energy storage and conversion in aqueous electrolytes is presented in this article, with a discussion of the challenges remaining for their practical application.
Abstract: Aqueous batteries using inorganic compounds as electrode materials are considered a promising solution for grid-scale energy storage, while wide application is limited by the short life and/or high cost of electrodes. Organics with carbonyl groups are being investigated as the alternative to inorganic electrode materials because they offer the advantages of tunable structures, renewability, and they are environmentally benign. Furthermore, the wide internal space of such organic materials enables flexible storage of various charged ions (for example, H+ , Li+ , Na+ , K+ , Zn2+ , Mg2+ , and Ca2+ , and so on). We offer a comprehensive overview of the progress of organics containing carbonyls for energy storage and conversion in aqueous electrolytes, including applications in aqueous batteries as solid-state electrodes, in flow batteries as soluble redox species, and in water electrolysis as redox buffer electrodes. The advantages of organic electrodes are summarized, with a discussion of the challenges remaining for their practical application.

TL;DR: In this paper, a series of low band gap copolymers consisting of electron-accepting pyrazino[2,3-g]quinoxaline (PQx) and an electron-donating indolo[3,2-b]carbazole and thiophene units have been designed and synthesized by Stille coupling polymerization.
Abstract: A series of low band gap copolymers consisting of electron-accepting pyrazino[2,3-g]quinoxaline (PQx) and an electron-donating indolo[3,2-b]carbazole and thiophene units have been designed and synthesized by Stille coupling polymerization. Their optical and electrical properties could also be facilely fine-modulated for photovoltaic application by adjusting the donor/acceptor ratios. UV-vis measurements showed that increasing the content of PQx units led to enhanced absorption. The band gaps obtained from UV-vis spectra, CV scanning, and DFT modeling all indicated a narrowing band gap with increasing the PQx content in the copolymer structure. The photovoltaic solar cells (PSCs) based on these copolymers were fabricated and tested with a structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/copolymer:PCBM/Ca/Al under the illumination of AM 1.5G, 100 mW cm−12. The best performance was achieved using P3/[70]PCBM blend (1 : 3) with Jsc = 9.55 mA cm−2, Voc = 0.81 V, FF = 0.42, and PCE = 3.24%, which is the highest efficiency for the PQx and indolo[3,2-b]carbazole based devices. The present results also indicate that the efficient photovoltaic materials with suitable electronic and optical properties can be achieved by just fine-tuning the ratios of the strong electron-deficient accepters and large-π planar donors.

TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamic behavior of a financial network with static and dynamic thresholds is investigated based on the daily data of the American and Chinese stock markets, and long-range time correlations are revealed for the average clustering coefficient, average degree and cross correlation of degrees.
Abstract: Based on the daily data of the American and Chinese stock markets, the dynamic behavior of a financial network with static and dynamic thresholds is investigated. Compared with the static threshold, the dynamic threshold suppresses the large fluctuation induced by the cross correlation of individual stock prices and leads to a stable topological structure in the dynamic evolution. Long-range time correlations are revealed for the average clustering coefficient, average degree and cross correlation of degrees. The dynamic network shows a two-peak behavior in the degree distribution.
