01 Jan 2016TL;DR: This chapter presents an overview about plasma techniques that are used in the field of textiles for the production of antimicrobial textiles and projects the details regarding the instrumentation.
Abstract: This chapter presents an overview about plasma techniques that are used in the field of textiles for the production of antimicrobial textiles. The plasma parameters and the process parameters that influence the surface property of the textile substrate are dealt with in detail. The chapter also projects the details regarding the instrumentation and reviews the work done by various research groups.

TL;DR: A new anisotropic diffusion approach to remove the impulse noise and retain the fine details of the original image is proposed and shows that the proposed approach gives better results than the existing denoising algorithms.
Abstract: This paper proposes a new anisotropic diffusion approach to remove the impulse noise and retain the fine details. The proposed approach contains two stages, the first stage detects the impulse noise, and the second stage removes the noisy pixel and retains the fine details of the original image. The Laplacian operator is used to fine-tune the image quality of the restored image in the anisotropic diffusion filter. The proposed approach is tested with PSNR, IEF, correlation factor, and NSER for different test images and the results are compared against existing algorithms. The simulation results show that the proposed approach gives better results than the existing denoising algorithms.

29 Apr 2013TL;DR: To prevent non-licensees from driving and therefore causing accidents, a new system is proposed that consists of a smart card capable of storing the fingerprint of particular person in the card.
Abstract: To prevent non-licensees from driving and therefore causing accidents, a new system is proposed. An important and very reliable human identification method is fingerprint identification. Fingerprint identification is one of the most popular and reliable personal biometric identification methods. The proposed system consists of a smart card capable of storing the fingerprint of particular person. While issuing the license, the specific person's fingerprint is to be stored in the card. Vehicles such as cars, bikes etc should have a card reader capable of reading the particular license. The same automobile should have the facility of fingerprint reader device. A person, who wishes to drive the vehicle, should insert the card (license) in the vehicle and then swipe his/her finger. If the finger print stored in the card and fingerprint swiped in the device matches, he/she can proceed for ignition, otherwise ignition will not work. Moreover, the seat belt detector verifies and then prompts the user to wear the seat belt before driving. This increases the security of vehicles and also ensures safe driving by preventing accidents.

TL;DR: An attempt has been made in this paper to locate muri waste and create a "Lean assembly line" using the use of Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) with CATIA V5 platform, which has allowed the measurement of a large set of operator posture parameters and assessment of ergonomic stresses.
Abstract: With the current state of the global economy, demand for various products plummeting. To sustain in the market, companies have to reduce cost and improve quality. Today, companies have started implementing new philosophies like TQM, TPM, six sigma and lean manufacturing techniques to remain competitive in the market. Lean manufacturing is an emerging philosophy which continuously strives to reduce waste. The main objective of analyzing the assembly line with a lean perspective is to identify the areas related to human interface with other systems that could lead to the generation of waste. Improper workplace design leads to unreasonable mental or physical burden and results in waste generation like slow work (delay and inventory), and defects, which is named as muri waste. An attempt has been made in this paper to locate muri waste and create a "Lean assembly line". The proposed method, based on the use of Rapid Upper Limp Assessment (RULA) with CATIA V5 platform, has allowed the measurement of a large set of operator posture parameters and assessment of ergonomic stresses. Based on the results, the process stations in the assembly line were redesigned to prevent the generation of waste.
