TL;DR: Melatonin is a natural bio-stimulant that creates resistance in field crops against various abiotic stress, including heat, chemical pollutants, cold, drought, salinity, and harmful ultra-violet radiation.
Abstract: Recently, melatonin has gained significant importance in plant research. The presence of melatonin in the plant kingdom has been known since 1995. It is a molecule that is conserved in a wide array of evolutionary distant organisms. Its functions and characteristics have been found to be similar in both plants and animals. The review focuses on the role of melatonin pertaining to physiological functions in higher plants. Melatonin regulates physiological functions regarding auxin activity, root, shoot, and explant growth, activates germination of seeds, promotes rhizogenesis (growth of adventitious and lateral roots), and holds up impelled leaf senescence. Melatonin is a natural bio-stimulant that creates resistance in field crops against various abiotic stress, including heat, chemical pollutants, cold, drought, salinity, and harmful ultra-violet radiation. The full potential of melatonin in regulating physiological functions in higher plants still needs to be explored by further research.

TL;DR: The effects of incubation time and temperature on mean ochratoxin A (OTA)-producing capacity and OTA accumulation by 4 Aspergillus carbonarius strains isolated from Spanish and Tunisian grapes were studied and the limits of growth and Ota production have been identified.
Abstract: The effects of incubation time (up to 10 d) and temperature (7, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 42 °C) on mean ochratoxin A (OTA)-producing capacity and OTA accumulation by 4 Aspergillus carbonarius strains isolated from Spanish and Tunisian grapes were studied on grape-like medium. The limits of growth and OTA production have been identified. OTA production was significantly higher at 20 °C, followed by 25, 15, 30, 35 °C. No growth was observed at 7 °C and 42 °C after 10 d of incubation and, consequently, no OTA was detected at these temperature levels. In general, maximum mean OTA-producing capacity was found earlier with increasing incubation temperatures. However, at 35 °C, OTA was rarely detected although growth was maximum at this temperature. OTA accumulation was maximum after 10 d of incubation for all the temperatures except at 30 °C, were the maximum was detected at earlier incubation time (6 to 8 d) and then remained stable. Colony diameters and OTA accumulation along time were modeled by the Gompertz sigmoidal model and an estimation of maximum OTA accumulation rate and the delay until OTA production could be established. At high temperatures OTA accumulation starts earlier but increases slowly and becomes constant in a few days.

TL;DR: Sick leave prescription by physicians is not associated with physicians' empathy or burnout and may mostly depend on prescribing guidelines.
Abstract: Objectives: To investigate the association between sick leave prescription and physician burnout and
empathy in a primary care health district in Lleida, Spain.
Methods: This descriptive study included 108 primary care doctors from 22 primary care centers in Lleida in 2014 (183,600 patients). Burnout was measured with the Maslach Burnout Inventory and empathy with the Jefferson Scale of Physician Empathy. The reliability of the instruments was measured by calculating Cronbach’s alpha and normal distribution was analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov-Lilliefors and χ2 tests. Burnout and empathy scores were analyzed by age, sex, and place of work (urban vs rural). Sick leave data were obtained from the Catalan Health Institute.
Results: High empathy was significantly associated with low burnout. Neither empathy nor burnout were significantly associated with sick leave prescription.
Conclusion: Sick leave prescription by physicians is not associated with physicians' empathy or burnout and may mostly depend on prescribing guidelines. Dades primaries associades a l'article. http://hdl.handle.net/10459.1/57146

TL;DR: In this article, a financial model is developed for the purpose, whereby feed-in tariffs (FITs) are combined with investment subsidies and soft loans, and the results show that the policy costs of combinations are the same as for the FITs-only option.
