08 Feb 1996TL;DR: In this article, the use of three transmitter diodes (D1,D2,D3) in a three-cornered arrangement placed parallel to the screen is recommended.
Abstract: An optoelectronic rain sensor consists of two or more transmission diodes (1,D1,D2,D3) and one or more measuring elements (19) for their rays (3), such as a photodiode (19). Each transmitter (1) directs a light beam (3) at the windscreen (4). Part of this beam (6) travels through to the outside of the windscreen, from where a part (8) of the light is reflected back to the receiver diode (19). The presence of water (13) on the screen changes the ratio between the light which is carried through (9) and the reflected light (8). This change in intensity is registered by the receiver (19). Sequential transmission from the diodes thus results in continuous assessment of rain on the screen by the receiver (19), from which a signal is sent to operate the wipers. The use of three transmitter diodes (D1,D2,D3), in a three-cornered arrangement placed parallel to the screen, is recommended.

30 Jul 1986TL;DR: A heat generator suitable for heating the cab or passenger compartment of a motorized automobile vehicle comprises an enclosure inside which are mechanical friction means adapted to be driven by the motor of the vehicle.
Abstract: A heat generator suitable for heating the cab or passenger compartment of a motorized automobile vehicle comprises an enclosure inside which are mechanical friction means adapted to be driven by the motor of the vehicle. These friction means are operable with a variable clamping force. A heat transfer liquid is circulated through this enclosure. The clamping force of the friction means is varied in inverse proportion to the speed at which friction means are driven by the motor. Thus the clamping force on the friction means is reduced as the motor speed increases, so that the quantity of heat produced is largely independent of the rotation speed of the motor.

27 Oct 1999TL;DR: In this article, a tube connection between a collector (2) of a motor vehicle heat exchanger and a line (16) using a connecting sleeve (14) in which the free end (32) of the line engages in a positive manner is described.
Abstract: The invention relates to a tube connection between a collector (2) of a motor vehicle heat exchanger and a line (16) using a connecting sleeve (14) in which the free end (32) of the line (16) engages in a positive manner. An annular seal (28) is accommodated in the annular gap (22) between the inner surface (24) of the connecting sleeve (14) and the outer surface (26) of the line (16). An outer flange (38) is provided on the free end (40) of the connecting sleeve (14), and a buckled outer bead (36) is formed on the line (16). When the tube connection is completely assembled, said bead is tightened against the outer face (41) of the outer flange (38) by a clamping device (42). The seal (28) forms an insertion sleeve (44). A sealing element (48) is formed on the insertion sleeve in the peripheral area thereof situated close to the collector, and a sealing flange (46) projects from the peripheral area of the insertion sleeve situated away from the collector. Said sealing flange is axially clamped between the outer flange (38) and the outer bead (26) by the clamping device (42).

04 Aug 2011TL;DR: In this article, a method for supporting a driver of a vehicle in manoeuvring the vehicle on a driving route, in particular when parking a vehicle into or out of a parking space, with the aid of a portable communication device was described.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for supporting a driver of a vehicle (2) in manoeuvring the vehicle (2) on a driving route (4), in particular when parking a vehicle (2) into or out of a parking space (3), with the aid of a portable communication device (13). At least one vehicle external sensor device (11, 17) is provided which is arranged stationarily relative to the driving route (4). The sensor device (11, 17) captures data relating to the vehicle (2) located on the driving route (4) and wirelessly emits signals (15, 15') comprising the captured data in such a way that same signals (15, 15') reach the interior of the vehicle (2). The signals (15, 15') are received through the portable communication device (13), and the data are output through the portable communication device (13). The invention also relates to a system (10) as well as a portable communication device (13).
