TL;DR: In this article, the authors report Germanium/poly-germanium as an substitute material for poly-silicon due to its superior carrier mobility, and they can envisage that poly germanium will be one of the ideal candidate towards realizing a high speed TSV interconnect when compared with poly-Silicon.

01 Jan 2018TL;DR: To enhance the power system performance, the optimal power flow has been incorporated in UPFC Multi-Objective Optimal Power Flow Using Metaheuristic Optimization Algorithms With Unified Power Flow Controller.
Abstract: In this chapter a multi objective optimal power flow (OPF) is obtained by using latest Metaheuristic optimization techniques BAT search algorithm (BAT), cuckoo search algorithm (CSA) and firefly algorithm (FA) with Unified power flow controller (UPFC). UPFC is a voltage source converter type Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) device. It is able to control the voltage magnitudes, voltage angles and line impedances individually or simultaneously. To enhance the power system performance, the optimal power flow has been incorporated UPFC Multi-Objective Optimal Power Flow Using Metaheuristic Optimization Algorithms With Unified Power Flow Controller to Enhance the Power System Performance

TL;DR: In this paper, two different arrays namely elliptical and hexagonal arrays are considered and four stochastic gradient based algorithms; Least Mean Squares (LMS), Fractional Least Segment (FLMS), Normalized Least SEgment (NLMS), and Normalized Fractionally Least Semi-Squares (NFLMS) are evaluated.
Abstract: Background: Over the last two decades the use of adaptive arrays in wireless industry has seen a rapid growth. Smart antennas have the capability of ability to direct its main beam towards the desired user and supress nulls at the same time. Methods: In this paper, two different arrays namely elliptical and hexagonal arrays are considered. Four stochastic gradient based algorithms; Least Mean Squares (LMS), Fractional Least Mean Squares (FLMS), Normalized Least Mean Squares (NLMS) and Normalized Fractional Least Mean Squares (NFLMS) are evaluated. Findings: From the results conducted it is shown that hexagonal array using Normalized Fractional Least Mean squares algorithm as the weighting scheme provide optimum results in terms of side lobe reduction and more precise main beam direction when compared to the other array configuration taken into consideration. Applications: Smart antennas increase signal range, suppress the interfering signals to a minimum range which provide greater advantage in wireless systems.

TL;DR: Conv conviction that the entropy of a kinematic chain is representative of its ability to generate motion and clarification that the expression equivalent to entropy can be developed and used without resorting to probability considerations are provided.
Abstract: A great deal has been reported by several investigators regarding detection of isomorphism, type of freedom etc., of kinematic chains based on their structure. The work reported so far will be meaningful only if some useful conclusions can be drawn from the structure of a chain, one of these being that the designer must be able to compare the structure of say, two kinematic chains and predict before completing dimensional synyhesis which of these will meet the motion requirements more accurately, in the sense of output error. The authors feel that his earlier work [1] in this direction needs to be supplemented to provide with (i) conviction that the entropy of a kinematic chain is representative of its ability to generate motion and (ii) clarification that the expression equivalent to entropy can be developed and used without resorting to probability considerations. The same is accomplished in this paper through illustrations.
