TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a model for eWoM use for s-commerce post adoption, which link three antecedents-factors (trust towards other people, trust of internet/Instagram, and perceived risks) to e-commerce use through mediation of perceived enjoyment, perceived value, and customer satisfaction.
Abstract: The influence of eWoM use for s-commerce in the context of Arab region remains unexplored. To bridge this gap, this study develops a model for eWoM use for s-commerce post adoption. This model link three antecedents-factors (trust towards other people, trust of internet/Instagram, and perceived risks) to eWoM use for s-commerce through the mediation of perceived enjoyment, perceived value, and customer satisfaction. The model is validated with a large sample of 843 Instagram users using LISREL tool. Research findings revealed that propensity to trust, trust of internet, perceived risk, and perceived value affect use of eWoM through the indirect effect of perceived enjoyment and satisfaction, while perceived value has no direct effect on eWoM. Customer satisfaction was a predominant predictor of eWoM use. The model has relevant contributions and implications for both research and practice.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors empirically analyzed the impact of the development of the digital economy on the domestic value-added rate of Chinese manufacturing industry exports and the mechanism underlying this relationship.
Abstract: The digital economy continuously injects new momentum into the traditional economy and has become an important driving force for national economic development. Against this backdrop and using input-output data from the WIOD from 2002 to 2014, this paper empirically analyzes the impact of the development of the digital economy on the domestic value-added rate of Chinese manufacturing industry exports and the mechanism underlying this relationship. The results show that (1) digital economic input significantly promotes growth in the domestic value-added rate of manufacturing industry exports, (2) digital economic input mainly increases the domestic valueadded rate of intermediate-product exports, (3) digital input has a significant positive impact on the capital-intensive and knowledge-intensive manufacturing industries, and (4) technological progress and cost reduction are important mechanisms through which the digital economy promotes the domestic value-added rate of exports. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors conduct a review of CBeC literature to find the current gaps and fragmentation to provide guidelines for future research, and they conclude that research in this domain needs more attention and enforcement to address the current research gaps.
Abstract: The emergence of cross-border e-commerce (CBeC) has brought substantial changes to both businesses and consumers. Although CBeC businesses have existed for less than a decade, many academic researchers addressed important issues in this context. It is essential to evaluate what has been studied through a structured review of the literature and derive meaningful insights given that research on this topic is new and largely fragmented. Therefore, this study conducts a review of CBeC literature to find the current gaps and fragmentation to provide guidelines for future research. The review shows that research in this domain needs more attention and enforcement to address the current research gaps. Addressing the current gaps helps academia build a rigorous body of knowledge and enables practitioners to solve challenging business problems.

TL;DR: A comparative study between the United States and South Korea was conducted to examine how the two countries' users experience the quality of algorithm-driven news services and how individuals perceive the topics of fairness, accountability, and transparency.
Abstract: Although algorithms have been widely used to deliver useful services, how users actually experience algorithm-driven news remains unclear. This study examines user attitude and perception of algorithmic journalism and identifies the similarities and differences in experience and satisfaction formation. A comparative study between the United States (U.S.) and South Korea was conducted to examine how the two countries' users experience the quality of algorithm-driven news services and how individuals perceive the topics of fairness, accountability, and transparency. The notable similarities and differences are found by performing a comparison of cognitive processes. The major attitudes toward algorithm news are similar between the two countries, although the weights placed on the qualities differ. South Korean users put more weight on performance qualities, and U.S. users place relatively greater emphasis on procedural features. Different patterns of algorithm news experience imply the contextual nature of algorithm: how users perceive and feel about topics in algorithm news and how they use and engage with algorithm news depend on the context where the experience is taking place. The analysis suggests the importance of user-perceived issues and the contextual nature of such issues.

TL;DR: Li et al. as discussed by the authors presented an empirical study on how knowledge management practices and innovation sources affect product innovation performance among the 152 manufacturers in the low-and high-tech industries in China.
Abstract: This paper presents an empirical study on how knowledge management practices and innovation sources affect product innovation performance among the 152 manufacturers in the lowand hightech industries in China. The results indicate that external innovation sources are positively correlated with innovation activities and new product performance. Intellectual property (IP) and knowledge management practices (KMP) are positively correlated with innovation activities, and KMP is positively correlated with innovation sources. The dual effect of KMP shows its indispensable effect on the new product development for both high-tech and low-tech firms, but for low-tech firms, such effect is relatively weak. This empirical study shows that IP management is critical to high-tech but not low-tech firms. The authors also found that, for innovation activities, low-tech depends on the external sources of innovation whilst high-tech firms do not. TL;DR: This study elucidates situations in which AI-enabled analytics systems make biased decisions against customers based on gender, race, religion, age, nationality, or socioeconomic status and proposes two approaches to overcome such biases in customer management.
Abstract: Research on AI has gained momentum in recent years. Many scholars and practitioners have been increasingly highlighting the dark sides of AI, particularly related to algorithm bias.. This study elucidates situations in which AI-enabled analytics systems make biased decisions against customers based on gender, race, religion, age, nationality, or socioeconomic status. Based on a systematic literature review, this research proposes two approaches (i.e., a priori and post-hoc) to overcome such biases in customer management. As part of a priori approach, the findings suggest scientific, application, stakeholder, and assurance consistencies. With regard to the post-hoc approach, the findings recommend six steps: bias identification, review of extant findings, selection of the right variables, responsible and ethical model development, data analysis, and action on insights. Overall, this study contributes to the ethical and responsible use of AI applications.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed economic and environmental performance in 61 developing countries along the Belt and Road and found that the average growth rate of green productivity is only 3.1%.
Abstract: The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) initiated by the Chinese government could be regarded as a systematic framework for promoting economic cooperation and development among the countries along the Belt and Road and China. This paper attempts to analyze economic and environmental performance in 61 developing countries along Belt and Road. An additive total factor productivity growth measure allows aggregating contributions of individual countries along the BRI to construct a reasonable measure. Both desirable and undesirable outputs are considered. The growth in the total factor productivity is decomposed with respect to the economic and environmental contributions. The annual average growth rate of green productivity is 3.1%, and the disparity of economic and environmental performance could be observed among countries. Some countries show robust economic growth while environmental performance slows down green growth. This indicates that developing economies should pay attention to environmental impacts and promote sustainable development by sharing emission-reduction technologies. TL;DR: A social network is built based on users' online interactive relations in one virtual innovation platform (LEGO Ideas) and their influencing paths are examined, showing that both the quantity and quality of online relations impose positive effects on innovation, yet in different ways.
Abstract: Previous studies demonstrate that online interactive relations can help improve users' innovation outcomes, yet few studies have investigated how they influence user innovation. This paper builds a social network based on users' online interactive relations in one virtual innovation platform (LEGO Ideas). It characterizes the online social network relations from both quantity and quality dimensions and examines their influencing paths on users' innovation outcomes (i.e., emotional support and information flow). The empirical results show that both the quantity and quality of online relations impose positive effects on innovation, yet in different ways. The quantity of online relations could bring users more positive emotions, whereas the quality of online relations could bring them with more useful information and knowledge. By examining the influencing paths, this paper contributes to the literature on how online relations influence innovation outcomes as well as provides practical suggestions for innovation platforms.

TL;DR: An overview of the internet presence of SMEs in Andalusia, along with their intention to reach international targets via the multilingual dissemination of corporate information, as well as determining the variables that influence these factors are offered.
Abstract: The development of information and communication technologies has enabled companies to spread messages globally, allowing them to open new markets and reach international clients. In this sense, the multilingual dissemination of corporate information plays a key role, and, for this purpose, websites are great communication vehicles. The aim of this paper is to offer an overview of the internet presence of SMEs in Andalusia, along with their intention to reach international targets via the multilingual dissemination of corporate information, as well as determining the variables that influence these factors. To meet these objectives, a sample of 1,425 SMEs has been analyzed. Results show that 52.3% of the companies evaluated had a website and only 10.3% of them offered their content translated to, at least, one language, and that variables such as company size, area of specialty, and location may have an impact on these two aspects. The findings reveal that more research and policies are required to support SMEs in their digitalization and internationalization process. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focus on the importance of digital business practices and how different sectors have been affected in terms of economic loss during this pandemic outbreak in different sectors, and make an analytical prediction that firms' profits may drop in response to the impact of coronavirus.
Abstract: The coronavirus (CoV) belongs to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) species that lead to infection, causing illness, starting from common cold to some serious sickness. Finally, on 11 March 2020, the WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced the outbreak as a pandemic. As the fear and ambiguity rose among companies and firms, the profit rate seemed to be lower due to the Covid-19 global impact, say nearly US$6 trillion in wealth from 24th to 28 February 2020 of the stock market has been wiped out. There was a great decrease in value over the S&P index, which abolished over $5 trillion in the same week. However, the largest ten companies of S&P faced a loss of $1.4 trillion. The investors make an analytical prediction that firms' profits may drop in response to the impact of coronavirus. Our prime focus is on the importance of digital business practices and how different sectors have been affected in terms of economic loss during this pandemic outbreak in this paper.

TL;DR: In this paper, a theoretical model of the relationship among networking capabilities, IT capabilities, prior knowledge, and new digital venture ideas was constructed to explore how startups can deal with major challenges brought by digital technology.
Abstract: Digital technology has had an important impact on entrepreneurship. It has changed the uncertain nature of the process of new venture idea generation, and it has also brought unprecedented opportunities for the generation of new digital venture ideas. In order to explore how startups can deal with major challenges brought by digital technology and create new digital venture ideas, this paper focuses on micro level entrepreneurial actions and constructs a theoretical model of the relationship among networking capabilities, IT capabilities, prior knowledge, and new digital venture ideas. Furthermore, through the hierarchical linear regression analysis of 278 sample data, the paper finds that in the context of digitalization, both networking capabilities and IT capabilities have a positive impact on the generation of new digital venture ideas. In addition, prior knowledge plays an important role in moderating the relationship between IT capabilities and new digital venture ideas. This paper conducts both theoretical and empirical analysis to explore how startups can build new digital venture ideas in the context of digitalization, which guides small and medium-sized enterprises in responding to new challenges. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined privacy concerns, a full complement of cultural values, trust, risk, and regulation at the individual level in a cohesive manner, and tested a model that incorporates these constructs as well as trust and risk beliefs.
Abstract: The global nature of e-commerce is complicating privacy issues because perceptions of privacy, trust, risk, and fair information practices vary across cultures, and differences in national regulation create challenges for global information management strategies. Despite the spike in international regulatory attention devoted to privacy issues and the tensions associated with them, there has been very little research on the relationship between information privacy concerns and consumers’ regulatory preferences, and even rarer is research that incorporates cultural values into a framework that includes privacy concerns and regulation. This study examines privacy concerns, a full complement of cultural values, trust, risk, and regulation at the individual level in a cohesive manner. Relying on a dataset of consumers gathered in the United States and India, the authors test a model that incorporates these constructs as well as trust and risk beliefs. The model explains 48% of the variance in consumers’ regulatory preferences, and all but one of the hypotheses find statistical support.

TL;DR: In this paper, a dynamic computable general equilibrium model was used to study the economic impact of the information industry on economic development and social welfare, and the results showed that the development will rapidly promote economic development, promote the reduction of commodity prices and the rise of output by providing higher social productivity.
Abstract: The information industry leads the digital revolution and innovation. With regards to what economic impact the development of the industry will bring about, there has been minimal focus from literature. This paper fills the knowledge gap by using a dynamic computable general equilibrium model. The results show the development will rapidly promote economic development and social welfare, promote the reduction of commodity prices and the rise of output by providing higher social productivity. Finance, public service, and some traditional industry (such as electricity) will benefit more when the information industry develops rapidly. At present, the industry development of the information industry is more directed at the service industry and final consumption. This paper implies the information industry can strengthen R&D investment towards supporting finance, public services and traditional industries, such as industrial control embedded software products, cloud computing technology, and emergency communication for traditional industries to increase the income.

TL;DR: In this paper, a research model has been proposed based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and technology acceptance model (TAM) which has been extended to include digital divide related constructs and trust in technology.
Abstract: State government has been moving from manual and paper-based processes to digital services. However, digital divide, declining trust in technology, and low IT/IS adoption rates by public sector employees are important challenges for successful delivery of e-government services to citizens. Previous studies in the area of IT/IS adoption and e-government have mainly focused on citizens. This paper examines IT/IS adoption by employees rather than citizens and the focus is on non-market environment and state government agencies. A research model has been proposed based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and technology acceptance model (TAM) which has been extended to include digital divide related constructs and trust in technology. To test the proposed model, a survey was conducted among early adopters of Office 365 at Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) in Springfield and Chicago. The paper contributes to research on IT/IS adoption in public sector. The findings also provide insightful design and practical implications for successful IT/IS deployment in public sector.
