TL;DR: The problem of insufficient driving performance in existing electric vehicle (EV) powertrain systems is solved in this paper by presenting the EV as the reference object and the optimal variable parameters are determined by multiple simulation analysis.
Abstract: The problem of insufficient driving performance in existing electric vehicle (EV) powertrain systems is solved in this paper by presenting the EV as the reference object. The system model of the EV is established based on the powertrain system layout, technical parameters, and performance requirements, and the vehicle dynamic property and pure electric drive economy are evaluated. On the basis of the component models and total outputted power, the driving range is considered as the optimization target, and the input simulation parameters are considered as the optimized variables. Therefore, the optimal variable parameters are determined by multiple simulation analysis. In view of the test bench results, the rationality of the parameters of the simulation result is verified. Generally speaking, with the flexible configuration of the designed powertrain system and the optimized parameters of dynamic programming, the automobile performance can be improved.

TL;DR: A new method is introduced to design static output tracking controllers for a class of non-linear polynomial time-delay systems based on the projection of the controlled system and the associated linear reference model that it should follow over a basis of block-pulse functions.
Abstract: In this paper, a new method is introduced to design static output tracking controllers for a class of non-linear polynomial time-delay systems. The proposed technique is based on the projection of the controlled system and the associated linear reference model that it should follow over a basis of block-pulse functions. The useful properties of these orthogonal functions such as operational matrices jointly used with the Kronecker tensor product may transform the non-linear delay differential equations into linear algebraic equations depending only on parameters of the feedback regulator. The least-squares method is then used for determination of the unknown parameters. Sufficient conditions for the practical stability of the closed-loop system are derived, and a domain of attraction is estimated. The implementation of the proposed method is illustrated on a double inverted pendulums benchmark as well as a two-degree-of- freedom mass-spring-damper system. The simulation results show the effectiven...

TL;DR: Use of self-adaptive GSA together with democratic PSO technique has been found to provide two distinct advantages over standard PSO and GSA, namely better capability to escape from local optima and faster convergence rate.
Abstract: A realistic and optimum design of reinforced concrete structural frame, by hybridizing enhanced versions of standard particle swarm optimization (PSO) and standard gravitational search algorithm (GSA) is presented in this paper. PSO has been democratized by considering all good and bad experiences of the particles, whereas GSA has been made self-adaptive by considering a specific range for certain parameters like ‘gravitational constant’ and ‘set of agents with best fitness value.’ Optimal size and reinforcement of the members have been found by employing the technique in a computer-aided environment. Use of self-adaptive GSA together with democratic PSO technique has been found to provide two distinct advantages over standard PSO and GSA, namely better capability to escape from local optima and faster convergence rate. The entire formulation for optimal cost design of frame includes the cost of beams and columns. In this approach, variables of each element of structural frame have been considered...

TL;DR: A modular single-phase grid-tie inverter system equipped with a power management and remote monitoring interface and integrated with a home energy management system (HEMS) exhibits flexible power scaling, load sharing, and high reliability.
Abstract: To enhance the conversion efficiency and electrical reliability of the low-voltage fuel-cell (FC) power generation system, this paper proposes a modular single-phase grid-tie inverter system equipped with a power management and remote monitoring interface. In this system, each single power module is composed of three single-stage quasi-resonant (QR) flyback current-source inverters that are connected in parallel, and all the power modules are connected in parallel to achieve flexible power scaling and load sharing. The proposed grid-tie inverter system possesses a power management unit (PMU) and can be integrated with a home energy management system (HEMS). An experiment was conducted to verify the feasibility of the proposed concept, in which five power modules were assembled to form a 1-kW high-efficiency grid-tie inverter system, which was modulated through the PMU. The results showed satisfactory load-sharing characteristics between the parallel-connected power modules. The peak efficiency for...

TL;DR: In this paper, experimental and analytical results of 21 high-strength concrete tied columns under axial compression were presented, where each 1500-mm-tall column had a 500 by 500-mm section reinforced with 12 D25 longitudinal bars enclosed by perimeter hoops only, or perimeter hoops plus typical crossties or perimeter and intermediate hoops.
Abstract: This article presents experimental and analytical results of 21 high-strength concrete tied columns under axial compression. Each 1500-mm-tall column had a 500 by 500 mm section reinforced with 12 D25 longitudinal bars enclosed by perimeter hoops only, or perimeter hoops plus typical crossties, or perimeter and intermediate hoops. The concrete strengths of cylinder tests ranged between 55 and 99 MPa. The column compression tests showed that the longitudinal bars could be laterally supported by hoop corners or 135-degree seismic hooks of crossties, but not restrained by 90-degree hooks, which lost effectiveness after spalling of cover concrete. The proposed analytical approach used the existing Mander model and the Euler equation to determine the confined concrete strength and the buckling strength of longitudinal bars, respectively. With rational assumptions of confinement effectiveness and unsupported lengths, the proposed analytical approach can well predict the complete load-deformation respons...

Abstract: Along with the progress in robot technologies, industrial robot manipulators nowadays have applied for more diverse and complex tasks. Consequently, the conventional manipulative devices, such as the teaching pendant and keyboard, become less suitable for task governing and teaching. Motivated by it, in this paper, we propose a novel manipulation system for industrial robot manipulators based on a tablet PC. With wireless communication, the proposed system provides flexibility for remote manipulation. Furthermore, a graphical interface and several assistive tools are developed, allowing the operator to conduct tasks in a more intuitive way. Experiments are executed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed manipulation system, with its performance compared to conventional manipulative devices.
