Abstract
In this paper an extensive literature review on load–frequency control (LFC) problem in power system has been highlighted. The various configuration of power system models and control techniques/strategies that concerns to LFC issues have been addressed in conventional as well as distribution generation-based power systems. Further, investigations on LFC challenges incorporating storage devices BESS/SMES, FACTS devices, wind–diesel and PV systems etc have been discussed too.

An Evaluation of Different Controllers Based on the Network Frequency Maintenance Strategy for a Large and Multi-control-area Interconnected Power System

TL;DR: In this article, two types of tie-line bias control strategy-based controllers have been applied, i.e., classical and improved controllers, to maintain the network frequency at its nominal value due to the load changes.

Wind turbines emulating inertia and supporting primary frequency control

TL;DR: In this article, a method is proposed to let variable-speed wind turbines emulate inertia and support primary frequency control, where the required power is obtained from the kinetic energy stored in the rotating mass of the turbine blades.

Frequency control and wind turbine technologies

TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of wind turbine inertial response characteristics on frequency control of small isolated power systems is discussed. But, due to differing electromechanical characteristics, this inherent link is not present in wind turbine generators.
