TLDR
This final installment of the paper considers the case where the signals or the messages or both are continuously variable, in contrast with the discrete nature assumed until now.Abstract:
In this final installment of the paper we consider the case where the signals or the messages or both are continuously variable, in contrast with the discrete nature assumed until now. To a considerable extent the continuous case can be obtained through a limiting process from the discrete case by dividing the continuum of messages and signals into a large but finite number of small regions and calculating the various parameters involved on a discrete basis. As the size of the regions is decreased these parameters in general approach as limits the proper values for the continuous case. There are, however, a few new effects that appear and also a general change of emphasis in the direction of specialization of the general results to particular cases.read more

Distributed source coding for sensor networks
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented an intensive discussion on two distributed source coding (DSC) techniques, namely Slepian-Wolf coding and Wyner-Ziv coding, and showed that separate encoding is as efficient as joint coding for lossless compression in channel coding.

A neural network method for identification of prokaryotic and eukaryotic signal peptides and prediction of their cleavage sites.
TL;DR: A new method for the identification of signal peptides and their cleavage sites based on neural networks trained on separate sets of prokaryotic and eukaryotic sequences that performs significantly better than previous prediction schemes, and can easily be applied to genome-wide data sets.

The security of machine learning
TL;DR: A taxonomy identifying and analyzing attacks against machine learning systems is presented, showing how these classes influence the costs for the attacker and defender, and a formal structure defining their interaction is given.

Image data compression: A review
TL;DR: A large variety of algorithms for image data compression are considered, starting with simple techniques of sampling and pulse code modulation (PCM) and state of the art algorithms for two-dimensional data transmission are reviewed.

TL;DR: It is shown that the new method is able to find a donor site in the coding sequence for the jelly fish Green Fluorescent Protein, exactly at the position that was experimentally observed in A.thaliana transformants.

Transmission of information
TL;DR: In this article, a quantitative measure of information is developed which is based on physical as contrasted with psychological considerations, and how the rate of transmission of this information over a system is limited by the distortion resulting from storage of energy is discussed from the transient viewpoint.

Certain factors affecting telegraph speed
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the wave shape depends somewhat on the type of circuit over which intelligence is to be transmitted and that for most cases the optimum wave is neither rectangular nor a half cycle sine wave as is frequently used but a wave of special form produced by sending a simple rectangular wave through a suitable network.
