Natural isotopic composition of dissolved inorganic nitrogen in the Chesapeake Bay

TL;DR: In this paper, the natural abundances of 15N in the dissolved inorganic pools of nitrogen in the Chesapeake Bay were measured in the spring and fall of 1984, and a fractionation factor for NH4+ oxidation between 1·0120 and 1·167 was derived, which is similar to values reported in the literature.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phosphorus regeneration vs. burial in sediments of the Arabian Sea

TL;DR: In this paper, solid phase phosphorus (P) speciation and benthic phosphate fluxes have been determined in Arabian Sea sediments and a good correlation between Benthic phosphorous fluxes and Pfish accumulation rates suggest that benthicity fluxes are to a large extent governed by dissolution of biogenic apatite.
Journal ArticleDOI

Temporal and spatial variations in the composition of seston available to the suspension feeder Crassostrea virginica

TL;DR: In this paper, the food resource of suspension feeders such as the oyster Crassostrea virginica was monitored monthly over a period of 18 months in adjacent sub-estuaries of the Choptank River, Maryland.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Northeast Water polynya, Greenland Sea

TL;DR: In this article, meso-and macrozooplankton investigations were carried out in the region of the Northeast Water (NEW), a polynya located off Northeast Greenland at about 80°N.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitrogen dynamics of eelgrass Zostera marina during a late summer period of high growth and low nutrient availability

TL;DR: In this paper, the nitrogen acquisition and dynamics of eelgrass were assessed during a late summer period of high plant growth and low nitrogen availability in the water column and low lnternal nitrogen contents of plants.
