Abstract
SUMMARY A modification of an earlier rating scale for extrapyramidal system disturbance is described, and evidence for the validity and reliability of the scale is presented. The usefulness of the scale in studies of neuroleptic drugs is discussed. By its application it is possible to quantify extrapyramidal side effects and to separate them into four principal factors.

Improvement of Schizophrenic Patients With Primary Negative Symptoms Treated With Amisulpride

TL;DR: These findings confirm and extend those of earlier placebo-controlled studies of low-dose amisulpride in the treatment of patients with predominantly negative symptoms of schizophrenia.

Neuropsychology of the Deficit Syndrome: New Data and Meta-analysis of Findings To Date

TL;DR: There was little evidence from either of the present studies that the deficit syndrome is associated with a selective impairment in frontal and parietal lobe functions, and findings from the meta-analytic findings revealed that deficit patients were globally more neuropsychologically impaired than nondeficit patients.

Early Response to Antipsychotic Drug Therapy as a Clinical Marker of Subsequent Response in the Treatment of Schizophrenia

TL;DR: This is the first study to prospectively show that early response/non-response to an antipsychotic (risperidone) is a reliable clinical marker of subsequent clinical outcomes and that a ‘switching’ strategy based on this information may lead to greater clinical improvement than staying on a drug for a longer period in some patients.

Aripiprazole for autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

TL;DR: This review updates a previous Cochrane review on the safety and efficacy of aripiprazole for individuals with ASD and judges the overall quality of the evidence for most outcomes to be moderate.

Extrapyramidal motor side-effects of first- and second-generation antipsychotic drugs

TL;DR: Patients in the second-generation group were dramatically (30-fold) less likely to be prescribed adjunctive anticholinergic medication, despite equivalence in terms of EPS, potentially improving clinical effectiveness and avoiding life-shortening metabolic disturbances in some patients currently treated with the narrow range of second- Generation antipsychotics used in routine practice.
