SUMMARY
A modification of an earlier rating scale for extrapyramidal system disturbance is described, and evidence for the validity and reliability of the scale is presented. The usefulness of the scale in studies of neuroleptic drugs is discussed. By its application it is possible to quantify extrapyramidal side effects and to separate them into four principal factors.read more

TL;DR: Patients' neuropsychiatric functioning improved with olanzapine, risperidone, and placebo treatment, and there was a substantial response in the placebo group, and no significant differences emerged among treatments.

Valproate for acute mood episodes in bipolar disorder.
TL;DR: There is consistent, if limited, evidence to suggest that valproate is an efficacious treatment for acute mania, andValproate may be less effective than olanzapine but may cause less sedation and weight gain.

Prefrontal cortex activity in people with schizophrenia and control subjects: Evidence from positron emission tomography for remission of ‘hypofrontality’ with recovery from acute schizophrenia
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used H2 15O positron emission tomography (PET) to study dorsolateral prefrontal cortical function in men with schizophrenia and male control subjects (n = 6) performing joystick movements on two occasions, 4-6 weeks apart.
