TLDR
In this paper, the surface complexation-site binding model of Davis et al. was used to predict uranyl adsorption from aqueous electrolyte solution onto well-characterized goethite, amorphous ferric oxyhydroxide and hematite sols at 25°C.

Conceptual and numerical model of uranium(VI) reductive immobilization in fractured subsurface sediments

TL;DR: The results suggest that input of soluble electron donors over a period of years could lead to a major redistribution of uranium in fractured subsurface sediments, converting potentially mobile sorbed U(VI) to an insoluble reduced phase (i.e. uraninite) in the mesopore domain that is expected to be permanently immobile under sustained anaerobic conditions.

Uranium distribution in the coastal waters and pore waters of Tampa Bay, Florida

TL;DR: The geochemical reactivity of uranium (238U) and dissolved organic carbon (DOC), Fe, Mn, Ba, and V was investigated in the water column, pore waters, and across a river/estuarine mixing zone in Tampa Bay, Florida.

An electrochemical study of Ni, Sb, Se, Sn, U and V in the estuary of the Tamar

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the behaviour of several dissolved trace elements (Ni, Sb, Se, Sn, U and V) in the Tamar estuary (south-west England).
Journal ArticleDOI

Sorption of uranyl ions on silica: Effects of contact time, pH, ionic strength, concentration and phosphate

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of contact time between the solid phase and aqueous solution, pH and ionic strength on the UO22+ sorption in the absence and the presence of phosphate was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Large decadal-scale changes in uranium and bicarbonate in groundwater of the irrigated western U.S

TL;DR: Results are consistent with the hypothesis that changing uranium concentrations are linked to changes in bicarbonate in irrigated areas of the western U.S.

Uranium solution-mineral equilibria at low temperatures with applications to sedimentary ore deposits

TL;DR: The Gibbs free energies, enthalpies and entropies of 42 dissolved uranium species and 30 uranium-bearing solid phases have been critically evaluated from the literature and estimated when necessary for 25°C.

Surface ionization and complexation at the oxide/water interface

TL;DR: In this article, a method for determination of intrinsic ionization and complexation constants of oxide surface sites from potentiometric titration data is reported using these experimental properties and the stoichiometry of surface reactions, surface charge, σo, adsorption density, Γi, and diffuse layer potentials, ψd, at the oxide/water interface.

Surface ionization and complexation at the oxide/water interface II. Surface properties of amorphous iron oxyhydroxide and adsorption of metal ions

TL;DR: In this paper, the site-binding model for the electrical double layer of hydrous oxides reported in a previous paper is applied to the adsorption of metal ions from dilute solution and to complex heterogeneous systems, i.e., amorphous iron oxyhydroxide.
