Anti-DNA antibody: Avidity and valence measurements, studies using sera from immunized rabbits and from two systemic lupus erythematosus patients

TL;DR: Methods for the purification of anti-DNA antibodies obtained from the sera of hyperimmunized rabbits and patients with systemic lupus erythematosus appear to be applicable for determinations of DNA-anti-DNA avidity and antigenic valence.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hypergonadotropic ovarian failure in young women

TL;DR: A thorough evaluation of patients with premature ovarian failure is essential and testing for autoimmune endocrinopathies should be considered in POF patients who exhibit any signs of endocrine dysfunction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Suppression of autoimmune diseases with anti-idiotypic antibodies: murine lupus nephritis as a model.

TL;DR: The use of anti-Ids to suppress undesirable antibodies which participate in the pathogenesis of autoimmune disorders may provide a highly desirable alternative to the widely-immunosuppressive treatments currently used to manage these diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vibrio vulnificus septicemia.

TL;DR: A 33‐year‐old Japanese male, who had a three year history of biopsy‐proved liver cirrhosis, was admitted to the hospital on June, 24, 1983 with a sudden onset of fever, chills, generalized pain, nausea, anorexia, weakness, and eruption over the entire body, and died about 7 hours after admission.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neuroendocrinology and brain peptides.

TL;DR: Findings from a large body of neuropharmacological, behavioral, and electrophysiological data open new horizons in neurobiology, force a reexamination of old and accepted hypotheses, and hold important implications for the clinician.

Manifestations of Immunologic Unresponsiveness in Hodgkin's Disease

Alan C. Aisenberg
- 01 Jun 1966 -
TL;DR: It is suggested that the anergy of early Hodgkin's disease is a peripheral defect; a manifestation of abnormal lymphocyte function; this suggestion is supported by preliminary work with Hodgkins lymphocytes in vitro and following lymphocyte transfer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Zinc deficiency: effect on brain of the suckling rat.

TL;DR: Zinc deficiency has been showed to impair DNA and protein synthesis in brain of the suckling rat as it has previously been shown to do in other tissues including liver and epiphyseal plate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cœliac disease and schizophrenia

F.C Dohan
- 25 Apr 1970 -
Journal ArticleDOI

Symptomatic pulmonary emphysema in childhood associated with hereditary alpha-1-antitrypsin and elastase inhibitor deficiency.

TL;DR: Genetic studies of sera from 55 family members were performed by means of functional assays of elastase inhibition and total antitryptic activity and by measurements of alpha-1-antitrypsin concentration with a newly developed sensitive electroimmunodiffusion method.
