Journal ArticleDOI

Frequency of gastrointestinal symptoms in children with autistic spectrum disorders and association with family history of autoimmune disease.

TL;DR: There was no association between a family history of autoimmune disease and GI symptoms in children with ASD and the multivariate analysis, autism and food selectivity were associated with GI symptoms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Premature Ovarian Failure

TL;DR: This chapter will explore many facets of POF but will concentrate on the immunological aspects of this condition, which can be a traumatic experience for a young woman, especially those interested in future fertility.
Journal ArticleDOI

Perivascular meningeal projections from cat trigeminal ganglia: possible pathway for vascular headaches in man

TL;DR: The existence of sensory pathways surrounding large cerebral arteries provides an important neuroanatomical explanation for the hemicranial distribution of headaches associated with certain strokes and migraine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Restricted subpopulations of DNA antibodies in kidneys of mice with systemic lupus. Comparison of antibodies in serum and renal eluates.

TL;DR: Sera from MRL/1, BXSB, and NZB/NZW mice, which develop IgG antibodies to DNA and glomerular deposits of DNA-antiDNA immune complexes, were studied by isoelectric focusing, finding that anti-DNA with isOElectric points from pH 8.0--9.0 may be more pathogenic for the kidney than other subpopulations.
Journal ArticleDOI

National differences in incidence of acute mastoiditis: relationship to prescribing patterns of antibiotics for acute otitis media?

TL;DR: The incidence rate of acute mastoiditis in the Netherlands is higher than in many countries with higher antibiotic prescription rates and the potential benefits of restricted use of antibiotics may be associated with a somewhat higher incidence.

Manifestations of Immunologic Unresponsiveness in Hodgkin's Disease

Alan C. Aisenberg
- 01 Jun 1966 -
TL;DR: It is suggested that the anergy of early Hodgkin's disease is a peripheral defect; a manifestation of abnormal lymphocyte function; this suggestion is supported by preliminary work with Hodgkins lymphocytes in vitro and following lymphocyte transfer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Zinc deficiency: effect on brain of the suckling rat.

TL;DR: Zinc deficiency has been showed to impair DNA and protein synthesis in brain of the suckling rat as it has previously been shown to do in other tissues including liver and epiphyseal plate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cœliac disease and schizophrenia

F.C Dohan
- 25 Apr 1970 -
Journal ArticleDOI

Symptomatic pulmonary emphysema in childhood associated with hereditary alpha-1-antitrypsin and elastase inhibitor deficiency.

TL;DR: Genetic studies of sera from 55 family members were performed by means of functional assays of elastase inhibition and total antitryptic activity and by measurements of alpha-1-antitrypsin concentration with a newly developed sensitive electroimmunodiffusion method.
