TLDR
Some biomaterials, which have been suggested to promote chondrogenesis and to have potentials for tissue engineering of articular cartilage, are reviewed and a new biomaterial, a chitosan-based polysaccharide hydrogel, is introduced and discussed in terms of the biocompatibility with chondrocytes.
