TLDR
A univariate and multivariate survival analysis demonstrated that old age, pathological T2 status, and micrometastasis were independently associated with an increased risk of poor survival in the patients who underwent a surgical resection of stage I NSCLC.About:

Recurrence after surgery in patients with NSCLC
Hidetaka Uramoto,Fumihiro Tanaka +1 more
TL;DR: The superiority of surgery, the reasons for recurrence, the timing and pattern of recurrences, the identification of factors related to Recurrence, current provisions for treatment and perspectives about surgery for patients with NSCLC are discussed.

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition in EGFR-TKI acquired resistant lung adenocarcinoma.
Hidetaka Uramoto,Teruo Iwata,Takamitsu Onitsuka,Hidehiko Shimokawa,Takeshi Hanagiri,Tsunehiro Oyama +5 more
TL;DR: EMT plays a role in approximately half of the cases of resistance to EGFR-TKI, independent of T790M mutation, according to analysis of tumour samples from lung adenocarcinoma patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of selected gene for acquired drug resistance to EGFR-TKI in lung adenocarcinoma.
TL;DR: In this article, the status of the EGFR and K-ras genes were investigated by PCR-based analyses, and the expression of HGF, PTEN, and EGR-1, and changes in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) status were evaluated by immunohistochemistry.

Quantitative Proteomics Reveals Regulation of Karyopherin Subunit Alpha-2 (KPNA2) and Its Potential Novel Cargo Proteins in Nonsmall Cell Lung Cancer
Chun-I Wang,Kun-Yi Chien,Chih-Liang Wang,Hao-Ping Liu,Chia-Chen Cheng,Yu-Sun Chang,Jau-Song Yu,Chia-Jung Yu +7 more
TL;DR: The results collectively demonstrate the utility of quantitative proteomic approaches and provide a fundamental platform to further explore the biological roles of KPNA2 in nonsmall cell lung cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Downregulation of VEGF-C expression in lung and colon cancer cells decelerates tumor growth and inhibits metastasis via multiple mechanisms
TL;DR: Analysis of the behavior of these cells revealed multiple effects of VEGF-C downregulation, which included previously undescribed effects, in particular, partial restoration of epithelial phenotype, reduction in the percentage of tumor-initiating cells (cancer stem cells) in the cell population and inhibition of metastasis of orthotopic lung cancer xenografts to other lung lobes.

Gefitinib or Carboplatin–Paclitaxel in Pulmonary Adenocarcinoma
Tony Mok,Yi-Long Wu,Sumitra Thongprasert,Chih-Hsin Yang,Da Tong Chu,Nagahiro Saijo,Patrapim Sunpaweravong,Baohui Han,Benjamin Margono,Benjamin Margono,Yukito Ichinose,Yutaka Nishiwaki,Yuichiro Ohe,Jin Ji Yang,Busyamas Chewaskulyong,Haiyi Jiang,Emma Duffield,Claire Watkins,Alison Armour,Masahiro Fukuoka +19 more
TL;DR: Gefit inib is superior to carboplatin-paclitaxel as an initial treatment for pulmonary adenocarcinoma among nonsmokers or former light smokers in East Asia and the presence in the tumor of a mutation of the EGFR gene is a strong predictor of a better outcome with gefitinib.

A causal role for E-cadherin in the transition from adenoma to carcinoma
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that loss of E-cadherin-mediated cell adhesion is one rate-limiting step in the progression from adenoma to carcinoma in a transgenic mouse model of pancreatic β-cell carcinogenesis.

Cell adhesion and signalling by cadherins and Ig-CAMs in cancer
TL;DR: In addition to their adhesive functions, cell-adhesion molecules modulate signal-transduction pathways by interacting with molecules such as receptor tyrosine kinases, components of the WNT signalling pathway and RHO-family GTPases, which have a crucial role in tumour progression.
