Journal ArticleDOI

Acute effects of mercuric chloride on intracellular GSH levels and mercury distribution in the fish Oreochromis aureus.

TL;DR: It would appear that teleostian and mammalian glutathione metabolism may have many similarities, and any changes in organ GSH and mercury levels following just 2 h exposure to mercuric chloride (HgCl/sub 2/).
Journal ArticleDOI

270 MHz proton magnetic resonance spectra of metallothionein.

TL;DR: Proton magnetic resonance measurements employing high resolution PMR spectroscopy at 270 MHz promised to shed more light upon the conformation of metallothionein, the metal binding and the detection of aromatic amino acid residues and revealed that throughout the pD regions from 1.3-6.5 the protein actually remained in the random coil form and no sign of aggregation was detectable.
Book ChapterDOI

Renal metal binding proteins.

TL;DR: The ability of metals, such as cadmium, zinc and mercury, to bind in the liver or kidneys with metallothionein or related proteins is linked with induction of biosynthesis of these proteins.

Protein Measurement with the Folin Phenol Reagent

TL;DR: Procedures are described for measuring protein in solution or after precipitation with acids or other agents, and for the determination of as little as 0.2 gamma of protein.

Estimation of the molecular weights of proteins by Sephadex gel-filtration.

P Andrews
- 01 May 1964 -
TL;DR: The results are similar to those of previous studies, where the objective was to establish a cause-and-effect relationship, rather than a straightforward relationship between the number of cells and the content of the molecule.

The gel-filtration behaviour of proteins related to their molecular weights over a wide range

P Andrews
- 01 Sep 1965 -
TL;DR: Correlation between elution volume, V(e), and molecular weight was investigated for gel filtration of proteins of molecular weights ranging from 3500 (glucagon) to 820000 (alpha-crystallin) on Sephadex G-200 columns at pH7.5.
