Journal ArticleDOI
A novel strategy for quantitative proteomics using isotope‐coded protein labels
TL;DR: A novel method, termed isotope‐coded protein label (ICPL), which is capable of high‐throughput quantitative proteome profiling on a global scale, and based on stable isotope tagging at the frequent free amino groups of isolated intact proteins, applicable to any protein sample.
Journal ArticleDOI
The adsorption of a bacterial cellulase and its two isolated domains to crystalline cellulose.
Neil R. Gilkes,E. Jervis,Bernard Henrissat,Bahar Tekant,Robert C. Miller,R. A. J. Warren,Douglas G. Kilburn +6 more
TL;DR: A new model for adsorption was developed to describe the interaction of a large ligand (protein) with a lattice of overlapping potential binding sites (cellobiose residues) and a relative equilibrium association constant (Kr) of 40.5 and 45.3 liter was estimated for CenA and CBD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prophenoloxidase-activating enzyme of the silkworm, Bombyx mori. Purification, characterization, and cDNA cloning.
TL;DR: The results of cDNA cloning, peptide mapping, and amino acid sequencing of PPAE revealed that P PAE is synthesized as prepro-PPAE with 441 amino acid residues and is activated from pro-P PAE by cleavage of a peptide bond between Lys152 and Ile153.
Journal ArticleDOI
Correlation of electrophoretic mobilities from capillary electrophoresis with physicochemical properties of proteins and peptides.
TL;DR: Excellent correlation was observed for the electrophoretic mobilities measured by capillary zone electrophoresis versus q/MW2/3, which suggests that the frictional drag is proportional to the surface area of a sphere that has a volume proportional toThe MW.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cloning and characterization of cDNAs encoding S-RNases from almond (Prunus dulcis): primary structural features and sequence diversity of the S-RNases in Rosaceae
Koichiro Ushijima,Hidenori Sassa,Ryutaro Tao,Hisayo Yamane,Abhaya M. Dandekar,Thomas M. Gradziel,Hisashi Hirano +6 more
TL;DR: The results of sequence comparisons and phylogenetic analysis imply that the present S-RNases of Rosaceae have diverged again relatively recently, after the divergence of subfamilies.

Isoelectric points of proteins: A table
TL;DR: A computerized bibliography from the MEDLARS data base covering the time period of January 1970-March 1976 was retrieved and a table of isoelectric points (pZ) of proteins selected from the literature was prepared.
Journal ArticleDOI
A naturally occurring structural variant of human growth hormone.
TL;DR: It is concluded that the 20,000-dalton form is a structural variant of growth hormone that reacted rather poorly with antibody to human growth hormone even though it had good growth promoting properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isohormones of Human Growth Hormone. I. Characterization by Electrophoresis and Isoelectric Focusing in Polyacrylamide Gel
TL;DR: Fractionation of several standard preparations of human growth hormone by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) reveals a multiplicity of bands identified by relative mobility (Rf) values, which indicate species B predominates in hGH preparations of relatively low prolactin bioactivity, whereas species C, D and E predominate in those of high Prolactin activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Circulating Growth Hormone Forms after Stimulation of Pituitary Secretion with Growth Hormone-Releasing Factor in Man*
TL;DR: The molecular composition of plasma hGH secreted in response to synthetic human pancreatic tumor GRF-(1-40) (hpGRF-40), a peptide closely resembling or identical to hypothalamic GRF, is similar to that released after pharmacological stimuli or that circulating in acromegaly.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isohormones of human growth hormone. II. Plasmin-catalyzed transformation and increase in prolactin biological activity.
R. A. Yadley,Andreas Chrambach +1 more
TL;DR: Digestion of human growth hormone with the proteolytic enzyme, plasmin, leads to a progressive transformation of isohormone B toIsohormones C, D and E, which was followed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) at pH71π 7.8, 0 C as a progressive increase in intensity of bands of higher mobility, and a corresponding diminution ofbands of lower mobility.
