Journal ArticleDOI
Turbidimetric studies of the in vitro assembly and disassembly of porcine neurotubules.
TL;DR: Turbidity measurements have been used to study the in vitro assembly and disassembly of porcine neurotubules and GTP, ATP and ADP, but not GDP, are effective in promoting tubule assembly, which is essentially fully reversible in the presence of excess GTP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Opposite end assembly and disassembly of microtubules at steady state in vitro
Robert L. Margolis,Leslie Wilson +1 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the microtubule assembly-disassembly "equilibrium" is a steady state summation of two different reactions which occur at opposite ends of the micro Tubule, and that assembly and disassembly occur predominantly and perhaps exclusively at the opposite ends under steady state conditions in vitro.

Taxol: an antimitotic agent with a new mechanism of action
Journal ArticleDOI
Purification of tubulin and associated high molecular weight proteins from porcine brain and characterization of microtubule assembly in vitro
TL;DR: The purification of tubulin and associated high-molecular-weight proteins, and the characteristics of microtubule polymerization in vitro are described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oryzalin, a dinitroaniline herbicide, binds to plant tubulin and inhibits microtubule polymerization in vitro
TL;DR: The results demonstrate pharmacological differences between plant and animal tubulins and indicate that the most sensitive mode of action of the dinitroaniline herbicides is the direct poisoning of MT dynamics in cells of higher plants.
