Classification of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia by gene expression profiling

TLDR
Analysis of leukemic blasts from 132 diagnostic samples using higher density oligonucleotide arrays revealed new insights into the altered biology underlying these leukemias, including T-cell lineage ALL and hyperdiploid karyotypes with more than 50 chromosomes.

Hyperdiploidy: the longest known, most prevalent, and most enigmatic form of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children

Oskar A. Haas, +1 more
- 20 Oct 2022 -
TL;DR: It is shown that these two sub-forms of hyperdiploidy can in principle be produced by the same chromosomal maldistribution mechanism and are biologically more similar than hitherto appreciated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Misclassification in binary responses and effect on genome-wide association studies

TL;DR: The results of this study suggest that the proposed method is adequate and effective for practical genome-wide association studies for binary response classification and indicates that ignoring misclassification, when it exists in the data, will lead to major deterioration in the performance of the model.

Introduction and Classification of Leukemias.

TL;DR: This work describes how both longstanding and new information has influenced classifying, for diagnosis, the hematological malignancies.
Journal ArticleDOI

The application of microarray analysis to pediatric diseases.

TL;DR: DNA microarrays are a tool for simultaneously assessing the expression levels of thousands of genes in a single experiment, making them well-suited to understanding the complex gene response patterns and the regulatory pathways involved in human disease.

Data Mining: Practical Machine Learning Tools and Techniques

TL;DR: This highly anticipated third edition of the most acclaimed work on data mining and machine learning will teach you everything you need to know about preparing inputs, interpreting outputs, evaluating results, and the algorithmic methods at the heart of successful data mining.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular classification of cancer: class discovery and class prediction by gene expression monitoring.

TL;DR: A generic approach to cancer classification based on gene expression monitoring by DNA microarrays is described and applied to human acute leukemias as a test case and suggests a general strategy for discovering and predicting cancer classes for other types of cancer, independent of previous biological knowledge.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nearest neighbor pattern classification

TL;DR: The nearest neighbor decision rule assigns to an unclassified sample point the classification of the nearest of a set of previously classified points, so it may be said that half the classification information in an infinite sample set is contained in the nearest neighbor.
Journal ArticleDOI

Data mining: practical machine learning tools and techniques with Java implementations

TL;DR: This presentation discusses the design and implementation of machine learning algorithms in Java, as well as some of the techniques used to develop and implement these algorithms.
