Huperzia saururus, activity on synaptic transmission in the hippocampus
María Gabriela Ortega,Mariana Guadalupe Vallejo,José Luis Cabrera,Mariela F Pérez,Romina Soledad Almiron,Oscar A. Ramirez,Alicia Mariel Agnese +6 more
TL;DR: Electrophysiological experiments were developed with the purified extract of Huperzia saururus on rat hippocampus slices, thus eliciting long-term potentiation (LTP), and results show a marked increase in the hippocampal synaptic plasticity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hypersomnie par lésion isthmique chez le chat. I.Étude du métabolisme des monoamines cérébrales
TL;DR: An important decrease of endogenous dopamine content without any subsequent change of noradrenaline concentration was observed in the thalamus, the geniculate body and the pons, which could be due to a greater utilization of dopamine into hypothetical dopaminergic terminals localized in these structures.
Journal ArticleDOI
5-HT mechanisms of median raphe nucleus in the conditioned freezing caused by light/foot-shock association.
TL;DR: Analysis of behavioral responses in a classical fear-conditioning paradigm in rats with either neurochemical lesion with NMDA or injected with 8-OH-DPAT into the MRN clearly inhibited freezing behavior in rats conditioned to light/foot-shock association, but not in the conditioning sessions with tones.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential effects of phasic auditory and visual stimuli on serotonergic neurons in the nucleus raphe dorsalis and nucleus raphe pallidus in freely moving cats
TL;DR: The effects of phasic auditory and visual stimuli upon single unit activity of serotonergic neurons within the nucleus raphe dorsalis (RD) and nucleus Raphe pallidus (RPA) were studied in freely moving cats to support the hypothesis that ascending and descending serotonergy neurons subserve different functions.

The autoradiographic demonstration of axonal connections in the central nervous system.

TL;DR: There are several reasons for thinking that this method may offer a number of advantages over other currently available techniques, and it should be possible to do this by locally injecting radioactively labeled precursors of proteins or other macromolecules into the brain or spinal cord.

Hippocampal projections and related neural pathways to the mid-brain in the cat
TL;DR: Recent studies in the rat have confirmed much earlier descriptions of widespread distributions of the fornix system to the diencephalon and the rostral mid-brain regions.

Studies on the distribution and fate of S35-labelled benzylpenicillin in the body.
TL;DR: The aim of this investigation was to study how penicillin is distributed from the blood to different body tissues and how it is bound, inactivated and excreted and to provide possibilities of studying the dif ferent ways of excretion as well as the problem of accumulation in the organs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Afferents to the rat caudoputamen studied with horseradish peroxidase. An evaluation of a retrograde neuroanatomical research method
TL;DR: The evidence presented suggests first, that the degree of localization at the injection site is compatible with approaching some problems in neuroanatomy; second, that anterograde transport of the marker protein does not appear to confound the interpretation of retrogradely labeled cell bodies; third, that many, though not all, afferent cell populations can be identified.
