Distribution of axons showing neurophysin-like immunoreactivity in cortical and anterior basal forebrain sites

TL;DR: Fibres reacting with antisera raised against neurophysin A (vasopressin-neurophysin) were observed in the medial bank of frontal cortex, the anterior hippocampal rudiment, the rostral extension of substantia innominata lying between nucleus accumbens and olfactory tubercle, bed nucleus of stria terminalis and lateral preoptic area.
Book ChapterDOI

Ramifications of the Limbic System

TL;DR: Seymour Kety as discussed by the authors was a scientist, teacher, and a promotor of our common purpose to learn more about the brain and its disorders, and his sterling qualities as a colleague and friend.
Journal ArticleDOI

Forebrain lesions differentially affect drinking elicited by dipsogenic challenges and injections of muscimol into the median raphe nucleus.

TL;DR: Only the SFO- and LH-lesioned groups showed a suppression of drinking to systemic injections of angiotensin II, suggesting that the drinking elicited by intra-MR injections of muscimol may involve changes in the central circuits mediating ang Elliotensin-induced drinking.
Journal ArticleDOI

Unit responses to auditory input in the dorsal and median raphe nuclei of the rat

TL;DR: Neural responsiveness to auditory stimulation in the medial and dorsal raphe nuclei (MR and DR) was investigated in the chronic, awake rat to show that the responses of DR and MR could be differentiated from one another.
Journal ArticleDOI

Serotonin and Central Mechanisms Underlying Motor Control

TL;DR: Possible reasons for the complexity and multiplicity of the effects evoked by serotonin at different levels of the CNS and within various neuronal structures in the course of motor behavior are discussed.

The autoradiographic demonstration of axonal connections in the central nervous system.

TL;DR: There are several reasons for thinking that this method may offer a number of advantages over other currently available techniques, and it should be possible to do this by locally injecting radioactively labeled precursors of proteins or other macromolecules into the brain or spinal cord.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hippocampal projections and related neural pathways to the mid-brain in the cat

TL;DR: Recent studies in the rat have confirmed much earlier descriptions of widespread distributions of the fornix system to the diencephalon and the rostral mid-brain regions.

Studies on the distribution and fate of S35-labelled benzylpenicillin in the body.

Ullberg S
- 01 Jan 1954 -
TL;DR: The aim of this investigation was to study how penicillin is distributed from the blood to different body tissues and how it is bound, inactivated and excreted and to provide possibilities of studying the dif ferent ways of excretion as well as the problem of accumulation in the organs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Afferents to the rat caudoputamen studied with horseradish peroxidase. An evaluation of a retrograde neuroanatomical research method

TL;DR: The evidence presented suggests first, that the degree of localization at the injection site is compatible with approaching some problems in neuroanatomy; second, that anterograde transport of the marker protein does not appear to confound the interpretation of retrogradely labeled cell bodies; third, that many, though not all, afferent cell populations can be identified.
