TLDR
The most recent assessment of animal diversity and status in the Nam Et - Phou Louey National Protected Area (NEPL) is presented in this paper, based on camera trap surveys from 2013 to 2017, facilitating an assessment of protected area management to date.About:

An updated analysis of the consumption of tiger products in urban Vietnam
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate tiger product demand in Vietnam, a major illegal wildlife consumer country and show that use of tiger products could be as high as 11% of the sample in both urban centers of Vietnam, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of African swine fever virus in free-ranging wild boar in Southeast Asia.
Emily Denstedt,Alice Porco,Jusun Hwang,Jusun Hwang,Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga,Pham Thi Bich Ngoc,Sokha Chea,Kongsy Khammavong,Phonesavanh Milavong,Sreyem Sours,Kristina Osbjer,Kristina Osbjer,Sothyra Tum,Bounlom Douangngeun,Watthana Theppanya,Nguyen Van Long,Nguyen Thanh Phuong,Le Tin Vinh Quang,Vo V. Hung,Nguyen Thi Hoa,Dao Le Anh,Amanda E. Fine,Mathieu Pruvot,Mathieu Pruvot +23 more
TL;DR: The first confirmation of African swine fever in wild boar in Southeast Asia, the result of a probable viral spillover from domestic pigs, highlights the importance of early reporting and monitoring of ASF in wild pigs to enable the implementation of appropriate biosecurity measures as discussed by the authors.

Diet, prey selection, and activity of Asian golden cats and leopard cats in northern Laos
Jan F. Kamler,Xaysavanh Inthapanya,Akchousanh Rasphone,Anita Bousa,Chanthavy Vongkhamheng,Arlyne Johnson,David W. Macdonald +6 more
TL;DR: Overall, leopard cats appeared to coexist with Asian golden Cats, a potential predator and competitor, by exhibiting dietary and temporal partitioning and suggesting the management of muntjac might be important for conserving populations of Asian golden cats.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temporal partitioning by felids, dholes and their potential prey in northern Laos
TL;DR: For carnivore species in northern Laos that are most similar in body size and diet, temporal partitioning is likely to be an important mechanism of coexistence, and otherwise, temporal patterns appear to be synchronized with their main prey.

Inference from Iterative Simulation Using Multiple Sequences
Andrew Gelman,Donald B. Rubin +1 more
TL;DR: The focus is on applied inference for Bayesian posterior distributions in real problems, which often tend toward normal- ity after transformations and marginalization, and the results are derived as normal-theory approximations to exact Bayesian inference, conditional on the observed simulations.

Transformations Related to the Angular and the Square Root

TL;DR: In this paper, an empirical study of a number of approximations for variance stabilization is presented, some intended for significance and confidence work and others for variance stabilisation for Poisson data.

The Measurement of Species Diversity
TL;DR: The present contribution attempts to define in a precise, but still generalized, what is or should be meant by the many terms sur rounding the concept-cluster diversity.

Crouching tigers, hidden prey: Sumatran tiger and prey populations in a tropical forest landscape
TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the abundance and distribution of Sumatran tigers and nine prey species in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park on Sumatra, Indonesia, and demonstrated that the relative abundance of tigers and their prey, as measured by camera traps, is directly related to independently derived estimates of densities for these species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prey selection by tiger, leopard and dhole in tropical forests
TL;DR: It is suggested that if there is choice, large carnivores selectively kill larger prey, and non-selective predation patterns reported from other tropical forests may be the result of scarcity of large prey.
