Engineering Ionic Liquid EDLCs: Influence of Cation Type, Carbon Structure and Increased Operation Temperature

Asa Noofeli
TL;DR: In this article, a systematic study of nine different ionic liquids with varying chain lengths and linkages from four classes of pyrrolidinium, sulfonium, ammonium and phosphonium RTILs was performed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrochemical properties of single-phase LiFePO4 synthesized using LiF as Li precursor and hydrogen and carbon gel as reducing agents

TL;DR: LiFePO4 samples have been synthesized by mixing stoichiometric amounts of (NH4)2HPO4, FeC2O4·2H2O, and LiF as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Room temperature ionic liquids to tailor resorcinol – Formaldehyde polymer gels

TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of resorcinol -formaldehyde polymer gels was studied in various room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) -water mixtures, showing that the size of both the anions and of the cations influences the pore morphology of the aerogel.
Journal ArticleDOI

Designing micro- and mesoporous carbon networks by chemical activation of organic resins.

TL;DR: The effect of the impregnation method was found highly dependent of the reagent and activation temperature, highlighting the possibility to design micro-mesoporous carbon xerogels at low temperatures with a subtle control of the activation conditions.

Sol-gel science

C.J. Brinker
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present and understand the sol-gel processing sequence from beginning to end, including discussions on the chemistry of hydrolysis and condensation of metal-organics and inorganic salts, the growth of polymeric or particulate species in sols, gelation, aging of gels, drying, structure of Gels, and sintering.

Organic aerogels from the polycondensation of resorcinol with formaldehyde

TL;DR: In this paper, the polycondensation of resorcinol with formaldehyde under alkaline conditions results in the formation of surface functionalized polymer "clusters" which are processed under supercritical conditions to obtain low density, organic aerogels.
